Hello, I'm aware with all the issues of the XFX 7970, but I had sort of a different problem I needed help with. I'd greatly appreciate it.

My system specs are:
MSI P67 GD-55 (B3) Bios v1.19
i7 2600k @ 4.5ghz 1.35V
8GB G.Skill Sniper 1600mhz @ 1.5V
XFX Radeon 7970Ghz/Factory Overclocked 1000/1425 Driver 13.6 beta
Samsung 830 Series 128GB SSD
WD VelociRaptor 10K 300GB HDD
Corsair 750HX PSU

My problem is that whenever I play games such as Sleeping Dogs, Battlefield 3, and ARMA 2 OA, and enter a graphics intensive part of the game, the game freezes for about 3 seconds, gives me a black screen, and then CTD. I can still hear the game audio, and I get a message saying that the "display driver has stopped working and recovered." I have to CTRL+ALT+DEL in order to close the game. I have monitored in GPU-Z and it shows that the Voltage on the card never exceeds 1.05V. The Core/Memory/Voltage never decreases in game either. The card idles in Windows 7 at .850V. I have re-installed drivers and done a couple of clean installs and to no avail. I'm thinking the the issue is power related, since I don't get artifacts in-game and the card never exceeds about 63C at the factory clocks.

My card is plugged into the PSU using two 8pin to 6+2 pin power connectors that came with the PSU. I have noticed that the 8 pin side that goes into the PSU has 7 wires, and that the 6+2 pin side has all 8. I am not able to unlock voltage in AB, but when I downloaded Trixx it let me. I used Trixx to overvolt to 1.1V on the GPU. GPU-Z showed the Voltage at 1.1V while in game also, and when going in a graphics intensive part of a mission in Sleeping Dogs, the computer just completely shuts down and I have to reboot. I never get crashes just browsing the OS, and the internet.

Any Ideas?

I've done stock clocks at 975/1425 and played BF3 online for about an hour, but when I try on Sleeping Dogs I get the problem. Maybe because Sleeping Dogs stresses the GPU more? I hate the fact that they ship these cards out at speeds that won't work.
