this is my first build up so it need to make sure it fits. if you need to know what type of motherboard im getting its between ASUS P8Z77-V LX LGA 1155 Intel Z77 or the MSI Computer Corp. DDR3 1066 Intel-LGA
the case is a corsair 200r.. im not sure if that matters but i just need to know please

If you are not going to overclock your cpu, the stock Intel fan should be ok. However, since this appears to be a gaming oriented rig, you most likely will stress the cpu, probably overclock, and generally pump the max out of the rig. Do yourself a favor and get an aftermarket cooler. The three I listed earlier will all do the job well. Like USAF said, I prefer not to hassle with water cooling, even the closed loop type. The 2-3 degrees difference is just not worth it.

The air coolers I listed are all fairly large and tend to extend over the ram slots. Ram with spreaders (heat sinks) are taller than "standard" ram and the protruding heat sink spreaders most likely will interfere with the bottom of the air coolers.

IMO, ram does NOT need heat spreaders - their only use is cosmetic bling.

I have a Hyper212 PLUS. There is ~3/16" clearance between the low profile RAM and in the first slot, and the fan on the cooler.
RAM with fins will not fit in that first slot.

I run the hyper 212 with gskill ripjaws. I have to slide the fan up a bit to install or remove ram and the fan just barely fits. Fan is on the ram itself a little when I slide it back down. You will not want to use Corsair Vengance ram with an aftermarket cooler unless it is water cooling. My ripjaws are right at the limit for me. Gskill Ares would be a good choice.
