Intel HD Graphics 2500 - What's my range?

I'm going to be putting all the pieces of my new PC together tomorrow, and although I haven't yet bought the GPU, should I expect quality graphics for gaming on my processor? Processor is the i5-3470 Quad-Core 3.2 GHz with Intel HD Graphics 2500.

Also, does it support things like DirectX9, DirectX10, and DirectX11? I'm not quite sure on how they all integrate.

So please, could someone give me a solid review on my processors graphical quality?

Thanks in advance!

More about intel graphics 2500 range
  1. It will support DirectX9, 10, or 11 fine. I do not have a review handy right now, but from reading around online before I know you won't get much. The best thing I can find you in a minute is notebook check, where people with laptops and the Intel HD Graphics 2500 play games.

The best it will do is older games. It will not play anything very recent. It will not play some old stuff even. The Intel HD 2500 is very limited and mostly good for just video play back. So if you want to play Diablo, Diablo 2, Warcraft III, Jade Empire, Fable, and other old games from around 2006 you will probably be okay, but nothing more.
  2. This sums up a lot of information.

    It has DirectX 11 support.

About quality graphics, don't expect anything great, but, since you'll use this only until you get your hands on a new gpu, it may be sufficient. Just go for lightweight or older games.

Here is a talk over it. These are from people who have played games and posted how many frames per second they got while playing different games at different settings. It is real events and not benchmarks so its pretty reliable. Yours will do just a tiny big better than these, but not a huge amount.

This one is for the Intel HD 2000 Graphics, which is worse than the 2500 so yours will do any games listed here also.
  5. Thanks guys, much appreciated.
