G.Skill Sniper 1866, G.Skill Ripjaws 1600 or Corsair Vengeance 1600, 8GB?

It will be working with a GTX 780, i5 or i7 and an ASUS Maximus VI Hero

with the exception of AMD's APUs, there's little to no gain grabbing a faster & more expensive ram. so unless there's a great deal on that DDR3-1866, or you're willing to spend extra on ram for a small 0.1-7fps boost in some games, you're just better off with DDR3-1600.

You're prob looking at the 1866/CL9 Snipers, which are CL9, and would be the best choice, the extra bandwidth of 1866 over 1600 will be minimal in gaming but nice in other computing tasks, surfing, video, images, multi-tasking

Thank you. One more question...what would you choose for the CPU? i5 or i7? My rig is specifically for gaming.

i5.

i7, only if you're willing to spend big for a small improvement, in a few select games. there's just no 100% guarantee HT will benefit in next gen gaming, & if it does, an i5 wouldn't just become obsolete straight away.

For gaming they are near equals, the i7 has has hyper threading hence the price increase but no games I know of use it, if other apps you use need or use it then that would be up to you to justify the roughly $100 price difference

I would personally take the G.Skill Sniper, they are fast, they are good looking and they are small which leaves enough clearance for CPU coolers.

And I would say it again, they look damn awesome. Just see the pic below, how cool they look

The Snipers are a great set, they do come in different models though, look for the 2133/CL9 set

http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E168...

because they also have the set in both 2133/10 and 2133/11 for the more budget concious.....HAve been using these since they were released, they are my #2 only behind the Tridents which primarily occupy the 8GB stick market
