Hello, I want to build a gaming PC, but I'm kind of confused my the motherboards.

First of all, I want to get an Asus mobo, heard they make some of the best ones. Now, on Asus' motherboards website, they said that they had the Gryphon series, Rog, 8 Series, and TUF series. I want to know what each series are best at/their special features.

I am considering to get an Asus Z87-A ATX mobo, so which series does it fall into? Here's the link for the mobo: http://www.asus.com/Motherboards/Z87A/

Thanks.

This falls into their 8-Series motherboards.

Thank you, now I understand (: But how are the 8-series in terms of performance, quality, and durability?

Appears you're looking at the 1150 mobos, the one you mention falls into the entry level of the Z87 series, a very good all round mobo, and more particularly a good gaming mobo, the ROG is sort of a nomenclature for Republic of Gamers, this is their series of mobos aimed specifically at gamers, the Gryphon it a specific mobo in the uATX factor, it also is considered a TUF series mobo along w/ the Sabertooth, these also are all purpose mobos, some of the terms are simply marketing....

The mobo you selected I'm sure you'll be happy with, if it's in the budget, look at the ROG mobos and the Maximus Hero in particular, that's my favorite and what I'll build a 4770K on once all the parts are finally decided on and in - have the mobo already and am tentatively planning on taking off the weekend of the 10th to build it and possibly also a 4670 (haven't decided on a mobo for that yet though the Z87-A is one I'm looking at for that, along with the Z87I-DELUXE

The 8 series mean Z87 motherboards. Which includes the TUF and the motherboards you listed. They are high quality motherboards which are know for a long lifetime and extreme performance. I would definitely go with on of these.

I really appreciate your help. The total price of my gaming PC, with the z87-A mobo, OS, monitor, and tax is around $1600. (My CPU is gonna be an i5 4670k and my GPU, Nvidia EVGA 770. My ram is gonna be 8Gb, and my Hard drive, 1Tb.) The ROG Hero is $225 at my location, so it might exceed my budget. But still, I'm definitely gonna look into it. Thanks again.

No problem, made two builds for clients with it which were the smoothest of the builds Ive done on Haswell, OCs well, handles DRAM well (am planning either 16 or 32GB of 2666 or 2800, which it runs easily, haven't had a 3000 set on one yet)
