I'm looking for a 240GB/256GB~ SSD for my computer. It will be my computers sole drive and obviously hold my games and operating system. I was thinking of getting a 256GB SanDisk Ultra, but there are some pretty negative reviews on newegg. To make matters worse, Tom's Hardware reviewed the actual SSD I was looking at, and in the comments there were a good handful of people saying the drives were dead upon arrival.

Any really reliable SSD brands out there?

Do any of you know why SanDisk seems to get a bad rap? Also, are there specific "don'ts" when it comes to SSD's? I'm looking at this SSD:
http://www.amazon.com/dp/B009NHAEXE
And it seems to have similar "drive was dead on arrival" sort of reviews. Same here:
http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=20-147-189&SortField=0&SummaryType=0&Pagesize=10&PurchaseMark=&SelectedRating=1&VideoOnlyMark=False&VendorMark=&IsFeedbackTab=true&Page=2#scrollFullInfo
Is this just sort of an occupational hazard with SSD's? I get that you have to take newegg/amazon reviews with a grain of salt, but are these issues something to really worry about? I know these SSD companies have sold well over 24 SSD's (example number of bad reviews) so how reliable are they really?

Keep in mind that the vast majority of satisfied customers do not write up a review. And of those that do, if they are having a problem they are far more likely to write one, so the bad reviews are highly exaggerated compared to the average sale.

Also as of now I read Samsung has about 25% of the SSD market. That's a huge chunk and a lot of drives shipped out the back doors. The new EVO's I posted above seem to give you everything. Cheap price, top tier performance. And when the EVO series does come out, look for the normal 840's to drop in price even more.
