Setting up router as AP for seamless coverage

I have a Linksys WRT610N set up as an AP using a Linksys EA4500 as the router. The 610 is configured with the same SSID, encryption, and password. However, it is broadcasting as a separate wireless connection. In other words it shows up twice on my available connections list. I can connect to either one by manually switching connections.

Is there another setting I need to adjust?

the reason you see two SSID is most likely that one is for the 2.4GHz and the other for the 5GHz.

Thank you, that may be it. I've been digging some more, and it may not be possible to configure both units for overlapping coverage. Thank you to all who contribute.

Due to the way wireless works, it will not switch over automatically to the stronger signal. It will wait until the connection/signal is lost before connecting again to the stronger signal
