I just recently finished off a new pc with a xfx radeon 7950 core edition graphics card. The problem is when I play demanding games (e.g. Crysis 3) the game does not last longer than 5 minutes, before the game freezes, and goes to a black screen forcing me to terminate the process. Occasionally the game will flat out crash and give me "driver has stopped respoding and has recovered" following with a nice little error box saying DXGI_ERROR_DEVICE_REMOVED.

I have been online for the last 3 days looking for a solution and nothing works. The closest I got was when I installed a older driver from january 2012 and the game lasted about 28 minutes before it froze.

I have tried everything - Uninstalling drivers, running driver sweeper, re-installing drivers bla bla ( i must have restarted my pc atleast ) 50 times in 3 days. I have underclocked it, underclocked the memory, underclocked the vram. Nothing works.

Weirdly, it works for games like CS:GO where I can max out everything and have no issues or Civ 5. But for crysis 3 and about 5-6 other games ( nfs most wanted, rift, wot ) just to name a few.

I know it is the graphics card because once I take it out and run the same games off integrated graphics, I have no issues whatsoever. Please help me..

Specs: Core i5-4670k
asus z87-a
corsair 750w psu
8gb (2x4) corsair ram

I am running windows 7 64-bit

Found it.Or you havent correctly connected the 7950 or bad drivers.http://msdn.microsoft.com/en-us/library/windows/desktop/bb509553%28v=vs.85%29.aspx
By the way,the first result if you search this error is on the crysis forums. This happens in crysis 3 because the game is bugged.

Thanks for your speedy answer but as I specified in my post, it is NOT just crysis

It happens in many games, and I would add that the driver has stopped responding/dxgi error is given to me 20% of the time, The rest is just a freeze that leads into a black screen with the sound continuing for about 10 seconds
