When you say, you set the mic as Headphone do you mean in the Realtek control panel?

When you plug GREEN you should say headphones and when you plug PINK you have to say mic.

If that is set right, please ensure that MIC is set to default(can be done with Windows sound -> recording(not the playback section) section or in the Realtek control panel).

I was just guessing you have a realtek card because not many cards let you "change" a mic to headphones.

Open up the sound recorder and see if your mic works in that?

Also, What OS(WinXP/Vista/7/8/OSX) are you on?

Ok, I need FULL info here.

the MIC is plugged into the rear pink plug correct?
You mic settings have been altered in Control Panel -> Hardware and Sound - > Manage audio devices -> Recording tab(should be able to see mic and also see sound on the right of it) -> Mic -> Properties -> Levels.

Note the green on the right side(only when you talk with the mic not muted). Also note I have disabled ALL other devices(and hidden them).

If you can not get this working, I have to wonder if the mic it self is the issue. Do you have another system to test it on.

The plot thickens :)

Am I seeing you have TWO sound cards(Creative SB Audigy and Onboard Realtek)? Please check to see what card the mic is connected to.

Sorry for the late reply, but I don't know how to see that. I don't know which is the real one, the Realtek appeared after I installed realtek so I don't know. But the first one was SB Audigy, even the sound only works with the speaker from SB Audigy.

Ok.

Lets try to get this solved now.

I want you to look at the back of your system. You should see both card's plug locations. The realtek is the ONBOARD and the Audigy is the DEDICATED card.

Now my image has an X-fi Titanium card so it does not look exactly like an Audigy and actually does not have a MIC plug it has a flex-jack(blue) that is MIC OR Line in.your card will have BOTH. It may be PINK or gold depending on the model you have, On the Audidy 2 ZS it is the 4th connector from the firewire(ieee 1394) port.

The card lacks the ability to actually detect a connection being made so it will NOT tell you when you plug something in. You will have to look close to ensure it is connected to the right plug.

Your other Option is to try to use the realtek card. Currently your speakers are connected to that card. If you do use the realtek card, please try to connect to the PINK port in the back of the system. If this works, we will have to guess your front mic port either do not work or are not connected right.

It is best to pick ONE card to use for everything. So if you want to use the Audigy, connect the speakers to it as well.

Ok, now it keeps telling me "you unplugged an audio jack, you plugged an audio jack, you unplugged an audio jack" and so on....this is happening with the On-board audio card, perhaps it's broken? I cannot hear anything from it either when I plug in but I can hear when I plug in my dedicated sound card.

OK, so that is the A4 tech one giving you the plugged/unplugged over and over?

If so, give a try to the dedicated card. see if they both work on that card.

It's the dedicated card that's not working on the microphone apparently.

OMG It's working, THANK YOU. Turns out the blue jack was the one for the microphone, THANKS A MILION, I was losing hopes since getting another headphone would be a hard choice for me since all the shops are very far from where I live. THANKS
