I have an Acer Aspire 5740. It is running and Intell Core i3. The current HD is a Hitachi SATA 250GB with a speed of 5400rpm, that came with the system. I am running the Windows 7 and drivers that came with the laptop. I wished to upgrade my HD size and speed. I purchased a Seagate 7200. It has 500GB, a 16MB cache, 3.0M/s speed, and a speed of 7200RPM. I ran the restore software for my machine and after the install, during the initial setup as Windows is applying the system settings I get the following message," Windows setup could not configure Windows to run on this computers hardware. I tried an older HD and ran the same software on this machine and it installs fine. I updated the Bios, reinstalled the HD and software and still have the same message. I have contacted Seagate and they tell me I have to contact Acer. Acer will not help because I am out of warranty. Does anyone have a clue what I need to do to get this to work?
