Asus sabertooth z87 or asus z87-pro?
Are they good for overclocking and which is better overall?
I go for the pro. it has more features than the sabertooth like Wi-FI and stuff. and the sabertooth has better durability and longer warranty support. But for overclocking. they're pretty much the same.
To be honest, unless there is a specific reason that limits your purchasing choice to only those two mobos, I would not go with either of them as my first choice.
After reading the specs and reviews, I would go with the 1) ASRock Fatal1ty z87 Professional or the 2) GIGABYTE GA-Z87X-OC. IMO, the ASRock is the best bang for the buck. Keep in mind that ASRock is a subsidiary of Asus and while ASRock may have started out as the "generic" version of Asus baords, they have considerably stepped up their build quality and specs. I have used both Asus and ASRock mobos and found myself buying ASRock over Asus for my own and friends builds. The Gigabyte board is no slouch either. Gigabyte has done a great job of putting out quality boards with a decent feature set. If you are set on an Asus board, check out the Asus Maximus VI Hero.
But, to directly answer your question, out of the two choices you asked about, I would go with the Z87 Pro.
Hope this offers a different perspective. Good luck with whichever mobo you choose!
