Hello,

I've just begun to overclock my i5 3570k processor and have done some stress testing.

I am clocking in at 4.6Ghz and after running prime95 for ~25 minutes, here are my results:

The temperature generally hangs around 77 celcius, but spiked up to 84 briefly a couple of times.

Resting voltage is .9v, but jumps to around 1.23v while prime95 is running.

When monitoring my CPU with CPU-Z, I notice that the core clock is at 1600 Mhz the majority of the time, and bumping up to 4600 Mhz only while prime95 is running.

Is this normal? Are those temps too high for only a 20 minute test? Should I lower my voltage offset?

Here is a link for my 3dMark score as well. Score

3dMark is showing my clock as 2800Mhz, but I think that is probably a misread as CPU-Z and CPUID indicate 4600.

Thanks in advance.

Well, if you are overclocking you can't leave voltage and frequency at automatic (in BIOS), you have to set it to manual.

Why is that? It seems to work well. When the computer is idle or I'm just browsing, it doesn't run at 4600 and ~1.25V. It runs at 1600Mhz and ~.95V.

Then, when I play games, or stress test, it bumps up accordingly.

Edit: I'm using "offset" for my CPU voltage and have it set to .025
