Hello,

I have a couple of Gigabyte 480gtx. I have two fans broken and I bought replacements from ebay to a seller from japan.

The problem is that i didn't know that products with the same serial could have different number of Pins in the connection, so now I have two fans with 4pin while my cards sockets are only 3pin.

Do you know if there is any problem connecting the 4pin fans into the 3pin socket? Do you know what the cables mean? The socket is not the regular like the ones in motherboards.

There is anything that i could do apart from rebuy two more fans, this time with 3pin?

All the fans, 3&4Pin are:

MODEL : T128010SU
DC 12V 0.35AMP

Thank you!

no mate the 4th pin is a pulse timing pin... it just goes off an on. when its on the rest of the motor gets power when its off the motor gets none. if you do this very fast you can regulate the over all speed of the fan by increasing or decreasing the gaps in the pulses.

I can control the RPMs with my actual 3PIN fans. Is that bc I don't know what is this 4th PIN doing. Extrapower? The fans have the same Voltage and Intensity.

What I saw is the next:

All three fans are joined to the same cable, cable with 5 pins. Where 2 pins (dark cables [red+black ] are power and 3 pins control each fan (green, blue, yellow). There is the 2+1 PIN of my broken fans. But the new fans are 4Pin [blue, green, yellow, black]
