I was wondering why it only says "1 core" if it is a dual core? I just swapped this cpu in, I had a 2650e before..

I guess the BIOS didn't detect the CPU right. Did you check before if it was compatible with your motherboard? Also a good idea to flash the BIOS to latest version.

The problem could also be simpler than that, could be a Windows driver if you didn't re-install Windows after upgrading the CPU. What Windows version are you running? Not sure if it applies to Vista or 7, but I know that back in the days with Windows XP you needed to change a generic Microsoft driver for it to detect more cores.

*** Edit: Here, I think I found it:

n CPUid it shows the core speed at 2.6 GHz which is good, but only shows 1 core. Also in task manager I only have 1 "CPU graph". This is the ORY206 board, like in this thread, and was wondering how I can get my computer to recognize the second core. In device manager it shows two Athlon X2 5000+ 's under Processor tab.

Did you check the link I posted previously? When you go in Device Manager, under Computer, does it shows "ACPI Multiprocessor PC" or "ACPI Uniprocessor PC"? As I explained before your problem likely comes from there.

It would also be a good idea to flash your BIOS to latest version if you never done so, or haven't done it since a long time. New BIOS version will support new CPUs better.

On a side note, Windows XP is an old operating system. Microsoft will officially drop support for XP on April 1st 2014 which is coming fast. After this date, no more patches and security updates so your system will be at risk if you use it to browse the web. My advise would be to upgrade to Windows 7 or Windows 8 whenever you can. It would also solve your problem because these OS are more modern and won't have any trouble detecting multi-core CPUs.
