Are H61 chipset motherboards compatible with Ivy Bridge?

I'm looking for a H61 micro-ITX Ivy Bridge compatible motherboard if it exists.

You should check with your motherboard manufacturer. Often times a BIOS update will allow for pin-compatible and power compatible chips to run on oldr boards.

If you are buying new with only the Ivy bridge chip, it is not wise to select an older board. You will need it to work out of the box in that case.

Yes the H61 boards are IB compatible if there is a BIOS update for them available. Here's an example: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E168...
On the CPU support page they give the BIOS version required for that particular board: http://www.asus.com/Motherboards/H61ME/#support_CPU

Good to know, I always thought the chipset only work with certain generation.

There are some exceptions with certain other systems, but in this case a BIOS upgrade is all it takes. :)
