As the title, i have been watching for a laptop for a while now, and found this one:
Lenovo IdeaPad G580
And the specs are:
- Intel Core i5 3230M
- Intel HD Graphics 4000
- 6GB Ram
- 1TB HDD

My biggest problem and the main question is:Is Lenovo known for overheating fast or is it good?

Well...what do you mean by "good"? It's a laptop. Laptops "suck" (for gaming or anything other than web browsing and word processing) unless you spend $1000s of dollars on them. I'm on my laptop right now and honestly, I wish I hadn't bought it. Sure, its portable (I'm out of state) but honestly, might have just been easier to get a cheap-o tablet or some junk like that to save my money.

But again, what is your definition of "good"? What are you going to use it for?

New? Used?
Where are you buying it?
How much?
What are you going to use it for?

Serious laptop gaming is best done with a discrete graphics card. You can play some games with that laptop, but it will struggle with modern titles. Will that laptop overheat? Depends what surface you put it on, ambient room temperature, etc. It's hard to say. My brother has a Lenovo thinkpad that has an i7 and a discrete card, he hasn't had any problems with his in regards to gaming. Can't say about your particular model.

by "good" i mean, does it overheat fast or getting warm?? Or is the fan good enough to keep the heat, like the ASUS laptops with their IceCool technology. (i know i should not compare lenovo with ASUS, but you get the point) ;)

Because i dont want an laptop which overheat or getting warm after 2-3 weeks and shutdowns because of the overheat.

Well im not an hardcore gamer, so you just basic stuff, like watching movies, internet, play some games (not like crysis 3 or BF3 in highest quality)

For casual everyday use, it doesn't seem like a bad deal. Doing your own research is always a plus. For example, here is a site with customer reviews on the product:

http://reviews.lenovo.com/8923-en_us/EE41656D5F51E55161...

Here are a couple professional tech reviews:

http://www.laptopmag.com/reviews/laptops/lenovo-g580.as...

http://www.expertreviews.co.uk/laptops/1296124/lenovo-g...

Also, comparing the product you're considering with other similar products can help.

Me personally... I like to stick with top of the line brands, like Asus for example. Hope this helps. :)

thanks for the reply and the links :)
Yes haha i know! i love ASUS, and im using an ASUS laptop right now! The only problem is that all the ASUS laptops i have been watching does not have as good specs as this computer has (in my budget)

My ASUS is never warm and has never failed me. But IF i buy my first Lenovo laptop i want to know, if its overheats or getting warm fast AND can i use it after like 10 months? Some laptops are known to be cheap and great but fails when it comes to how long it "lives" (after it fails)

Are you sure? :p
Because i really want to know it Lenovo laptops are good enought to buy. Not like HP or Acer because i've heard that THOSE laptops are famous for overheating and shutdown, but their specs are great!

Am I *sure*? well, no. No more sure than any other consumer grade laptop.

Lenovo's have traditionally been good quality products. Some people have questioned that over the last few years after the buyout. But they are still sold in mass quantities, seemingly without mass complaints.

Now....If I say "Yes, I'm sure!". and you run it in a dustfilled, 95C room, trying to mine BitCoin 24/7...and it overheats...don't blame me..:)

Is it an OK laptop? It appears to be.
