Let say your not buying a dual channel module kit.

Let say i'm buying two 4gb Genesis (1866C9D3/4G) 1x4.

Will it work in dual channel mode?

P.S: Just curious.:)

Solution
Yes, any newer processor has at least a dual channel memory controller, intels have a tri or quad controller if i'm not mistaken. Manufacturers like to sell dual or tri channel kits as modules that were from the same batch so are very likely to work well together. I've used mixed brands together and had no problem running in dual channel mode, if they're the same speed and manufacturer you're almost guaranteed they'll work just fine in dual channel.

Solution
Almost always they should work as long as they run at the lowest common denominator. If you're buying the exact same ram you possibility of any issues should be near zero.

For instance, if you pair a cl10 ram stick with a cl9 stick, they will have to run at the slower timing together cl10. Issues will only arise if the cl9 stick can't loosen it's timings. Same goes for ram clocks. A 1600mhz stick will have to slow itself down to match a slower 1333mhz stick. Again, only problem that occurs is if the 1600mhz stick refuses to slow down.

I have only had this happen to me once with DDR2 where the board only supported up to 533mhz but one of my 667mhz sticks didn't clock down automatically so I had to swap it out.
I've also ran DDR 400 ram at DDR 200 speeds to match the rest of my ram.

As always make sure the mb supports your ram and you should be good.

Thanks. That's great to hear! It's just that here in the Philippines. Kingston Genesis 1x4 is 1750PHp and the 2x4 is 3700Php. So if I buy two 1x4 that is 1750Php, The total would be 3500Php! so its actually 200Php cheaper. :)
