Hi I am looking for some advice and suggestions on whether to get the Thermalright Silver Arrow or Noctua NH-D14 CPU Cooler.

I am going to cool an i5-4670K and plan to overclock it as well.

I already have experience with the NH-D14 cause it is currently in one of my other systems but I need some advice on comparing it to the Silver Arrow.

Would both be the same and should I just go for whatever I find is cheapest at the time, or is one better than the other?

Also how quiet are the two compared?

Thanks!

Personally Noctua NH-D14, it is quiet and is a good as some liquid coolers (H80 for example) if it fits in your system then get this! will allow for serious overclocking.

Here is a comparison of the two:

Ok thanks for the suggestion, is there a reason why you recommend it over the Silver Arrow though?

And I know it'll fit in my case, I have the Corsair Vengeance C70 Case

I guess it depends on the type of Silver Arrow? I mean, both are serious contenders, but the Silver Arrow SB-E is definitely a different beast.

Note, though, that the SB-E isn't exactly meant to be quiet. The original Silver Arrow is more pleasant to the ears, and is still a give good punches: http://www.xbitlabs.com/articles/coolers/display/therma...

You'll find a lot of reviews that show the Silver Arrow (both types) trade blows with the Noctua NH-D14. I think it's safe to say they are, roughly speaking, equal. I would probably be happy with either product, so I say just get whatever is cheaper. The tinkerer in me, though, says, since you already have a Noctua, go ahead and buy the Silver Arrow and give it a shot. Worst case scenario, you still get to tell us your experience as to which was better. :D
