I ordered from DELL ultrasharp 2711 moniter with true colors. $999 discounted to $850. After about 3 weeks, now DELL tells me this moniter has been discontinued and I can't buy it. so they suggest this new moniter with LED. Similar price with similar specs.
http://accessories.us.dell.com/sna/productdetail.aspx?c...
Many sites such as PC magazine saids DELL is one of the best moniters and has given them many awards. Are these truly the best for this size and ultra HD resolution with top of the line true color display ??? I had 24 inch Dell ultrasharp I bought 6 years ago and I have been happy with it but it is getting old and need to replace it with 27 inch or 30 inch top of the line moniter.
What do I use it for you ask ? I used it for Movies, photo and movie downloading. I make pictures and movies of people. and also I play Games, graphics intense games like Halo 4 or Halo 5.
Some of the reviews on DELL site of above moniter is little scary, but overall sounds good.
IS this truly the best for this size moniter or is there better ones out there ?

This one guy that posted a review of this new 27 inch moniter does worry me. should I be concerned ? Most of the other reviews were great. but this is one of the few negative reviews.
I was excited to have my first wide gamut monitor at home ( had worked with professional models at the office ). Unfortunately, despite the high praise so far - the build quality must be hit or miss...
Absolutely horrible backlight bleeding - viewable on all corners in not only a dark, but faintly dim room.
I have owned four 'Samsung 193p's and two 'Samsung 244T's and this is far far worse. I setup an eight year old 193P next to the dell and the difference was obvious. The Samsungs are nice monitors, but no where near the 2713's price. For a $999 msrp monitor this is unacceptable. Returning mine immediately.(

It has one of the best customer services out there. Dead pixel? Just 1? Send it back for a new one. Beside, I do not own a Dell Ultrasharp but I did once(1440p) as well. It is great if I remembered. Not sure about the latest models they offer but, usually they have top notch monitors compared to the likes of BenQ, Asus, Samsung.

Another concerning review from a buyer. But this one seem technical, and I am not sure if this is relevant to me ??
"Don't buy an Adobe RGB wide gamut monitor
February 13, 2013
From Ken Rockwell's site...
Adobe RGB is irrelevant for real photography. sRGB gives better (more consistent) results and the same, or brighter, colors.
Using Adobe RGB is one of the leading causes of colors not matching between monitor and print.
sRGB is the world's default color space. Use it and everything looks great everywhere, all the time.
Adobe RGB should never be used unless you really know what you're doing and do all your printing yourself. If you really know what you're doing and working in publishing, go right ahead and use it. If you have to ask, don't even try it.
If you're one of the few a full-time career professional photographers left standing and shoot for print, by all means shoot Adobe RGB, but if you're a very serious amateur, beware."

That is irrelevant, the DELL monitors cover the sRGB colour space is 98% covered bymost of DELL's monitors and Adobe RGB really isn't that huge of a step away from sRGB. That review sounds suspect and I question whether they understand colour spaces at all.

This NEW Dell U2713H seem to be much better version than the Legendary U2711 moniter that got 5 stars from CNET 3 years ago. This review site compares the two models directly. What do you guys think ???

Apparently the U2711 model is on the way. but I am being told by dell that U2713H is updated much better model. I am now thinking about changing the moniter out. I really am not sure if it is worth the hassle ??? Do you guys think it is worth the switch out ?? based on above review of the two models ??

IN Backlight tech, it saids new 2713 model has GB-LED vs the older model 2711 has W-CCFL. What does that mean ?W-CCFL(Cold Cathode Flouroscent Lamps) is an old way of lighting the monitor. This way of backlight on the edges of the screen, this can cause a uneven through the plane of the screen and is easily noticeable. The newer(better) way of backlight is using LED. The leds are placed in a matrix throughout the screen thus and thus provides a better viewing for a user and better brightness too.
Here is a better explanation and showing the pros and cons.

You simply cannot pass this up. Top quality Dell with its excellent guarantee, a U3014, that's a full 2560X1600 resolution in 30 inches with cool, low power LED backlighting, for only $999! And, that's with free shipping. You'd have to rob a bank for a better deal.

I understand. Only thing is I am putting this cost on my Dell preferred account. only way I can do this is if I buy the 30" moniter from DEll. their price is still $1250, I think. I wonder if they price match ??

Maybe I can get the Dell agent to take off $100 more if I call them ?? what do you think ? They are desperate to sell these moniters, they are NOT moving like they hoped.
Is there any great discount on BOSE speakers for computers too? I need those too. Thanks

Hi - I wouldn't say it's the best 30" monitor out there, but it's close.
The NEC PA301w prob has the edge, and EIZO currently doesn't offer
30" monitors.
It got a good review from tftcentral (in the UK, a top monitor review site)
Also, the 16:10 aspect ratio I find much more useful than the 16:9 of
the 27's. I'd say go with it, and at $999 w/free shipping it's a no-brainer!

Yes. go with the Dell 30", the NEC will cost double!!
16:10(2560x1600)basically means you get 160 more lines vertically than the 1440p(25640x1440).
It's a little taller.
So, a lot less scrolling. That's my opinion it's more useful, others might disagree.

Baber, only problem I have is that I won't be able to purchase this 30 " moniter for about 2 more weeks since I have to return that Dell 2711 moniter I will receive in mail tomorrow. I have to return it and wait for Dell to issue a credit then I will have the money back in my account to buy the 30 inch moniter. Will the Deal still be around for me to use 2-3 weeks from now ??? I really hope so.

Sorry, a more useful answer is to use the discount code on the Tom's link. It will bring the dell.com price down to $999.WOW. I see. you mean I buy the moniter from Dell but I can get the discount thru the code. $999. I think that is the best deal I can get from them. Maybe I can get the Dell agent to take off $100 more if I call them ?? what do you think ? They are desperate to sell these moniters, they are NOT moving like they hoped.
Is there any great discount on BOSE speakers for computers too? I need those too. Thanks
Sorry, only one $250 giveaway per person
I don't think they would give you another $100 off unless you had one of their children locked up in your basement.
If you found my input usable, please vote for best answer.
I would love to choose you as best answer. but there is no best answer button. where is that ? and do you think the BOSE computer speakers are really worth the money they ask for ? Also then we both agree that this is BEST 30 inch moniter in the market today ? right ??
Bose tends to overprice their stuff. Other than auto speakers, I'd not recommend Bose. Never, and I mean, never, buy a Bose stereo or home theater system. I'd have to come over and throw a glass of water in your face.

Thank YOU. You are Awsome. CNET did a review on this speaker while back. Not bad at all. it said weakness is no ability to add a subwoofer. What does subwoofer do ? and is it really critical to listening to music like Violin concertos and Piano concertos like rubeinstein or Itzak Pearlman ??

A subwoofer is for handling the very lowest of audio frequencies. You didn't want to use up that
space, so I'm recommending these for <$150 that will give you good base and very good
mid & high range for the $$. I'm buying these myself in 3 weeks.
And, no a subwoofer isn't necessary to listen to the music you listed above.
If you want the sound quality these speakers offer and a subwoofer, you need to
up your price by a lot of $$.

Hi again - I can't honestly say. Bose certainly enjoys a solid reputation in speakers.
But, they don't list the materials or specs, the Creative T40II at least lists
a lot of pertinent info, which is what drew me to their item in the 1st place.

I would never buy bose full stop. Overpriced for what is essentially mediocre sound. Also guys can we limit the quotes? :LDoes it really hurt not to have the Subwoofer ?? If you are listening to classical music like Itzak Pearlman and Arthur Rubeinstein and Lucciano Pavarotti ?
No, it doesn't hurt to not have a subwoofer for classical music. A better way to
think of it, is a subwoofer helps with the very low frequency sound (such as drums)
I somewhat agree that Bose is for the most part overpriced. Yes, much of it is
average, but they also have some above average stuff, but in my opinion
you pay a steep premium for their merch, regardless of how good it is.

I heard this BOSE companion 20 speaker for $249 is very very good stuff. but it is very expensive, and not sure if it is worth the money. and also that $99 speaker above it has some mixed reviews even some saying it is a ripoff. lol

OK, I have to LOL at DELL service today. They told me they had sent me the Dell Ultrasharp 2711 moniter as I ordered originally. What I ended up getting was NEW 2713H moniter. 2711 doesn't even exist anymore. and they sent it to the Wrong address and I had to drive out to FEDEX office to pick it up. ALL this I had to do to make a return now so I can buy that 30 inch ultrasharp moniter. So I called DELL to get a return label to return this 27 inch moniter and got a run around for about 2 hours. During that time, DELL is doing everything to get me to keep this moniter by offering Additional $50-75 off and so on.
and finally in the 3rd hour, they got the messege and gave me the return label and authorization number. And tells me that it will take about 30 days to credit my Dell account so that I can order the new 30 inch moniter. so it looks like I have to wait another 4 weeks to get my Ultrasharp 30 inch moniter........ Crying.

Nice to work with ?? can't agree with that. Every time I call, I am transferred about 4-8 times minimum. and I have to wait about 1 hour miminum. and I have to talk to someone with English skills of kindergarten. It is nothing but easy, I assure you.

Thanks maybe I will buy one and get a 2nd one free ?? if Dell has that deal. Anyway, I was just wondering if creative lab's T40 speaker was that much inferior to this Bose ? T40 has good reviews and is $80 cheaper. I am not sure if that BOSE speaker is more expensive just because of the name brand Bose ? They look like similar speakers.
