I ordered from DELL ultrasharp 2711 moniter with true colors. $999 discounted to $850. After about 3 weeks, now DELL tells me this moniter has been discontinued and I can't buy it. so they suggest this new moniter with LED. Similar price with similar specs.

Many sites such as PC magazine saids DELL is one of the best moniters and has given them many awards. Are these truly the best for this size and ultra HD resolution with top of the line true color display ??? I had 24 inch Dell ultrasharp I bought 6 years ago and I have been happy with it but it is getting old and need to replace it with 27 inch or 30 inch top of the line moniter.

What do I use it for you ask ? I used it for Movies, photo and movie downloading. I make pictures and movies of people. and also I play Games, graphics intense games like Halo 4 or Halo 5.

Some of the reviews on DELL site of above moniter is little scary, but overall sounds good.
IS this truly the best for this size moniter or is there better ones out there ?

W-CCFL(Cold Cathode Flouroscent Lamps) is an old way of lighting the monitor. This way of backlight on the edges of the screen, this can cause a uneven through the plane of the screen and is easily noticeable. The newer(better) way of backlight is using LED. The leds are placed in a matrix throughout the screen thus and thus provides a better viewing for a user and better brightness too.

Here is a better explanation and showing the pros and cons.

This one guy that posted a review of this new 27 inch moniter does worry me. should I be concerned ? Most of the other reviews were great. but this is one of the few negative reviews.

I was excited to have my first wide gamut monitor at home ( had worked with professional models at the office ). Unfortunately, despite the high praise so far - the build quality must be hit or miss...

Absolutely horrible backlight bleeding - viewable on all corners in not only a dark, but faintly dim room.

I have owned four 'Samsung 193p's and two 'Samsung 244T's and this is far far worse. I setup an eight year old 193P next to the dell and the difference was obvious. The Samsungs are nice monitors, but no where near the 2713's price. For a $999 msrp monitor this is unacceptable. Returning mine immediately.(

It has one of the best customer services out there. Dead pixel? Just 1? Send it back for a new one. Beside, I do not own a Dell Ultrasharp but I did once(1440p) as well. It is great if I remembered. Not sure about the latest models they offer but, usually they have top notch monitors compared to the likes of BenQ, Asus, Samsung.

Another concerning review from a buyer. But this one seem technical, and I am not sure if this is relevant to me ??

"Don't buy an Adobe RGB wide gamut monitor

February 13, 2013
From Ken Rockwell's site...

Adobe RGB is irrelevant for real photography. sRGB gives better (more consistent) results and the same, or brighter, colors.

Using Adobe RGB is one of the leading causes of colors not matching between monitor and print.

sRGB is the world's default color space. Use it and everything looks great everywhere, all the time.

Adobe RGB should never be used unless you really know what you're doing and do all your printing yourself. If you really know what you're doing and working in publishing, go right ahead and use it. If you have to ask, don't even try it.

If you're one of the few a full-time career professional photographers left standing and shoot for print, by all means shoot Adobe RGB, but if you're a very serious amateur, beware."

That is irrelevant, the DELL monitors cover the sRGB colour space is 98% covered bymost of DELL's monitors and Adobe RGB really isn't that huge of a step away from sRGB. That review sounds suspect and I question whether they understand colour spaces at all.

Apparently the U2711 model is on the way. but I am being told by dell that U2713H is updated much better model. I am now thinking about changing the moniter out. I really am not sure if it is worth the hassle ??? Do you guys think it is worth the switch out ?? based on above review of the two models ??

What do you guys think about this Ultrasharp 30 " moniter ?? since I do keep these moniters for a long time, I am thinking about spending little more money and buying the biggest size. Is this the BEST 30" moniter out there today ?

I understand. Only thing is I am putting this cost on my Dell preferred account. only way I can do this is if I buy the 30" moniter from DEll. their price is still $1250, I think. I wonder if they price match ??

WOW. I see. you mean I buy the moniter from Dell but I can get the discount thru the code. $999. I think that is the best deal I can get from them. Maybe I can get the Dell agent to take off $100 more if I call them ?? what do you think ? They are desperate to sell these moniters, they are NOT moving like they hoped.

Is there any great discount on BOSE speakers for computers too? I need those too. Thanks

Sorry, only one $250 giveaway per person :)

I don't think they would give you another $100 off unless you had one of their children locked up in your basement. ;)

If you found my input usable, please vote for best answer.

I would love to choose you as best answer. but there is no best answer button. where is that ? and do you think the BOSE computer speakers are really worth the money they ask for ? Also then we both agree that this is BEST 30 inch moniter in the market today ? right ??

Bose tends to overprice their stuff. Other than auto speakers, I'd not recommend Bose. Never, and I mean, never, buy a Bose stereo or home theater system. I'd have to come over and throw a glass of water in your face.

Hi - I wouldn't say it's the best 30" monitor out there, but it's close.
The NEC PA301w prob has the edge, and EIZO currently doesn't offer
30" monitors.
It got a good review from tftcentral (in the UK, a top monitor review site)
Also, the 16:10 aspect ratio I find much more useful than the 16:9 of
the 27's. I'd say go with it, and at $999 w/free shipping it's a no-brainer!

you saying, NEC is better ?? but isn't that much more expensive ? I can get this DELL 30 " at only $999. and what does that mean by 16:10 more useful than 16:9 ?? I am computer language ignorant person. Sorrry
