Basically I want to run triple monitors with eyefinity. The question I have what is the pros and cons of getting this

Also will there be any issues with the cpu, mine is i3-2100@3.1ghz? I have 2x4gb DDR3 and a 1000W psu.

Ok so if I build it for gaming purposes should I be getting two gpu? If so what is the cheapest I can do it for? Or could you give me some examples? Thanks

For the full Triple monitor setup anticipate at least two grand. At least 250 for a CPU, At least 450 for monitors, At least 900 for Graphics, At least 150 for a mount, cables, power cords etc. and probably another 250 for any additional upgrades to the system (Motherboard, case, cooling)

Surround or Eyefinity gaming isn't cheap. Keep in mind a very high end single monitor setup costs about half that of a very low-end mulit-monitor setup.

Yeah I got two of the three monitors, mb should be fine and same with cooling. I was budgeting for $1000 but it seems like that is for gpu only. So is it not possible to run 3 monitor gaming with a single card or two $300 range cards?

VERY UNLIKELY to get high performance with 3 monitors. You need another monitor, better cpu and two cards. Thats gonna cost over 1000. What monitors are they?

all are 22" so I was planning for 5040x1050 res which looked very doable according to some benchmark tests I have seen online with just HD7970 which are in the $400 range. It would mostly be used for racing games and flight sims and the remaining will be school work and videos. So the only demanding part would be the gaming and I do want to play at high quality maybe just shy of max settings. But everyone here is saying I will need to drop 1k just for gpu so maybe I need to rethink things.

What exact model are they, I will be able to get GPU's, CPU, Monitor and mounting correct and give you a very close price estimate.

DON'T mix and match, those setups look terrible. Here is the way to max out games. BTW the monitor is an IPS version of what you have, just get it. It has better viewing angles for 5 bucks more.

AMD 7970 was expensive long time ago. There like 350$ a piece now.

oh and one more thing about the monitor. My current samsung one doubles up as a tv so I use it to hook up my ps3, so can I just use the hdmi port for the ps3 and connect dvi to comp and just give up cable tv?

MICROSTUTTER Yes it's still very real and very annoying. Two 770's don't have that problem and perform much better. 7970's while being cheaper, are noisy, hot, power hungry and laggy (Frame drops) on many occasions. Eyefinity is executed better than surround but the choice is wanderidiot's.

It was under monitor specs. IPS just means full viewing angles without color shifts. They are in fact, better.

I see is there any radeon cards that run eyefinity but not lag? I dont really mind the noise or temp since I built my own encasing desk and most of the noise is dampened and it stays really cool. But yeah thanks for all the info its been really helpful.

If you do get the 7970, get one with an after market cooler. Maybe like Asus's. Microstutter becomes the only issue, crossfirex has yet to be fixed.

A Sapphire 7970 is the best card. Because sapphire has good cooling like Dual-X solutions or Vapor-X.

Just stay away from XFX Cards. Some of them are faulty, have issues and problems.

and power color, they're cheaply made.
