Basically I want to run triple monitors with eyefinity. The question I have what is the pros and cons of getting this
http://www.amazon.com/Sapphire-DL-DVI-I-SL-DVI-D-PCI-Ex...
versus
http://www.amazon.com/Sapphire-DL-DVI-I-SL-DVI-D-PCI-Ex...
versus
http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E168...
Also will there be any issues with the cpu, mine is i3-2100@3.1ghz? I have 2x4gb DDR3 and a 1000W psu.

What do you want to see on those 3 monitors ? If it's anything with any significant graphics load (i.e. gaming) none of those cards will cut it. If its for watching stocks or anything like that no problem with any of themOk so if I build it for gaming purposes should I be getting two gpu? If so what is the cheapest I can do it for? Or could you give me some examples? Thanks

For the full Triple monitor setup anticipate at least two grand. At least 250 for a CPU, At least 450 for monitors, At least 900 for Graphics, At least 150 for a mount, cables, power cords etc. and probably another 250 for any additional upgrades to the system (Motherboard, case, cooling)
Surround or Eyefinity gaming isn't cheap. Keep in mind a very high end single monitor setup costs about half that of a very low-end mulit-monitor setup.

Yeah I got two of the three monitors, mb should be fine and same with cooling. I was budgeting for $1000 but it seems like that is for gpu only. So is it not possible to run 3 monitor gaming with a single card or two $300 range cards?

VERY UNLIKELY to get high performance with 3 monitors. You need another monitor, better cpu and two cards. Thats gonna cost over 1000. What monitors are they?

all are 22" so I was planning for 5040x1050 res which looked very doable according to some benchmark tests I have seen online with just HD7970 which are in the $400 range. It would mostly be used for racing games and flight sims and the remaining will be school work and videos. So the only demanding part would be the gaming and I do want to play at high quality maybe just shy of max settings. But everyone here is saying I will need to drop 1k just for gpu so maybe I need to rethink things.

DON'T mix and match, those setups look terrible. Here is the way to max out games. BTW the monitor is an IPS version of what you have, just get it. It has better viewing angles for 5 bucks more.

MICROSTUTTER Yes it's still very real and very annoying. Two 770's don't have that problem and perform much better. 7970's while being cheaper, are noisy, hot, power hungry and laggy (Frame drops) on many occasions. Eyefinity is executed better than surround but the choice is wanderidiot's.

It was under monitor specs. IPS just means full viewing angles without color shifts. They are in fact, better.

I see is there any radeon cards that run eyefinity but not lag? I dont really mind the noise or temp since I built my own encasing desk and most of the noise is dampened and it stays really cool. But yeah thanks for all the info its been really helpful.

If you do get the 7970, get one with an after market cooler. Maybe like Asus's. Microstutter becomes the only issue, crossfirex has yet to be fixed.

The 7990 is terrible. AMD should have spent that time fixing micro-stutter rather than showcasing it in an overpriced card. Two 7970's is cheaper and way better, but I wish micro-stutter would GTFO.

Well. Nvidia and AMD has different styles though
AMD is known for eyefinity or they have better multi monitor setup in one gpu.
Nvidia is known for 3D Gaming or with PhysX.
But for multi gpu. SLI would be the best.

For 3 monitor setup on 1 GPU, Nvidia works fine. AMD offers 6 monitor support, Nvidia only offers 3 for gaming and +1 for Accessory display. I have my GTX 770 running 3 1080p monitors(HDMI,DVI,DVI) if you only want 3, Nvidia is fine.

Hey guys I have decided to go with two 7970s and hope that AMD will fix microstuttering on multiple display. My main gaming will be tomb raider and starcraft and I have seen some youtube videos and I cannot tell the stuttering until they do a slowmo. Is it because I am watching a youtube video? is it much more apparent when seated and actually gaming?

You will notice the micro stutter in game, frames will drop. It isn't likely to be completely fixed until the next series because it is a hardware issue but AMD is forcing drivers to fix it. For some people and some games, it is very apparent and can be the one second moment that gets them killed in a game. For other it's just a minor annoyance or inconvenience. If your not looking for an (extreme) competitive advantage over others, two 7970's will be fine, but watch out for high temps as they will kill performance of the whole machine.

The new drivers have fixed the microstuttering issue for a single monitor setup but with your multiple monitors there are still some kinks to be worked out.
I was thinking of getting the sapphire vaporx

but after looking online the AMD 9000 series is predicted to release in october so should I wait?

The thing with tech is, if you wait, something new will come out, if you get it, something new will come out. If you need it, High end cards retain value so go ahead and pull the trigger on it. The new series won't all of the sudden make it obsolete. I'd buy it.

do you happen to know if the new series will be single card? this will eliminate the only problem I have with AMD. I heard it was AMD's answer to Titan so I assumed it was single card but I couldnt find any info

If you want a titan, get a titan. I don't think AMD is gonna pull out their "titan" 6 months later, if so, it won't be smart because the way the market works. Don't fear that those cards will be obsolete, because they wont. If you wait for the rumors to be false, you lost out for like 4 months, if they're true, Nvidia will kick back. That's competition. I wouldn't wait. For all we know the next gen may bring a new issue (they didn't discover micro-stutter before release) and you may buy one. You can't expect AMD to make a "titan" because it won't be the same as an Nvidia "titan" Of course I'm talking single GPU performance when I say "titan". My intuition suggests they won't make a "titan" because AMD is more of a value market. They are great at the low end but start to struggle past mid range. AMD wouldn't pull a "titan" because those very(very) high end single GPU cards don't tend to represent value.
You can't expect tech to conform to you and there is few viable resources that can confirm AMD's "titan" I think that's why they put out a 7990. Two 7970's or Two of Nvidia's 770's or up, won't be obsolete if they're overkill now.
Too Long, Didn't Read... No, Just buy the original cards, they'll retain value.

Hey guys I have decided to go with two 7970s and hope that AMD will fix microstuttering on multiple display. My main gaming will be tomb raider and starcraft and I have seen some youtube videos and I cannot tell the stuttering until they do a slowmo. Is it because I am watching a youtube video? is it much more apparent when seated and actually gaming?Get a pair of HD 7970 GHz and the Gigabyte WF http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B008WAMV3Y/ref=as_li_q... is a great version with amazing cooler. The new drivers have fixed the microstuttering issue for a single monitor setup but with your multiple monitors there are still some kinks to be worked out.
