Hi there!

I have tested my ram sticks thoroughly, with 2 different motherboards, and each one is working properly. In the problem motherboard, the asus z87-plus, I can boot up from each slot with single channel 2 sticks or single stick. However, in my dual channel configuration, I can not POST. I have been able to post in dual channel with these sticks before. In single channel, the RAM is only showing 800Mhz in CPU-Z instead of the XMP profile 1600mhz per stick.

I have Corsair Vengeance 1600Mhz 2x4gb 1.5v 9-9-9-24 ddr3 RAM. I do not know what the issue is. The only thing I could think of is that the memory controller on the motherboard is bad. I have updated the bios, I have all drivers, etc etc. This is a brand new build today. I have a 750W gold from seasonic, so no issue here. I would gladly appreciate any form of help given here. Thank you.

I should also let you guys know before I installed windows I posted dual channel with 1333MHz. I tried it again after installing windows and it failed to POST. After that it seemed to get worse with the MemOK! switch not fixing the ram at all, whereas before it would "fix" it to 1067Mhz to post. Seems like something is degrading with use....fast.

Solution
1) Do you have a full part number for that memory kit?

2) Also, which UEFI version is the board running?

3) The speed CPU-Z shows is correct - it's DDR (double data rate), so 800 is DDR3-1600. The system will likely not POST if you try setting it any faster in UEFI as those kits don't have much overhead in them for overclocking. :)

1) CMZ8GX3M2A1600C9B

2) Z87-PLUS BIOS 1207 (not sure what you can get from this, i don't know what version of UEFI.)

3) They do not post if set to 800Mhz in the bios anyways if in the dual channel physical configuration. Now, when I press the MemOK! switch it doesn't "fix" the ram at all and it does not POST.

Ok, so now I have some new information to work on.

I have been able to boot up in dual channel now, but in unfavorable conditions.

So what I have to do to accomplish this is to set them up in single channel, set memory to xmp, then shut down. Then, I have to put them in dual channel and take out one of my drives ( i have a 840 pro Ssd and a 1 tb hdd) by removing the data cable to the mobo. Then i power on and it POSTs. Then i restart to plug the drives back in. If I change my cpu/ram settings in the bios at all it goes back to not POSTing anymore.

Everything as far as drivers/bios has been updated. I am really disappointed that I can't really overclock because of this. If Raja or someone could help, it would be greatly appreciated.

My boot up drive is the ssd.

Could it be that the mobo isnt powering all devices correctly? Regardless of config or fast boot options, the windows starting up logo freezes and all my usb devices and graphics card seem to 'restart' then after a few seconds the login screen appears.
