The DVD is connected usually to slow Sata 2 port , while the mechanical harddisk is connected to Sata3

what you need to do is replace your harddisk with the SSD , and put the harddisk in the DVD cage , the mechanical HD are slow and they are good with Sata 2

the SSD need Sata3 ...

if you have 4G it is enough for gaming...

you will need SSD , and get the fastest one , Samsung 840 pro ... 128G or 256 G

I dont see the need of removing the DVD it is not cheap ... the Adapter is expensive .. put it in the SSd , remove your harddisk , and use it in a USB external case and be sure it is USB3 box , they are cheap ...

this is my advice really . just put it in the Notebook Bag and use it when you want. dont go into the hassle of the DVD bay ..

is the ADATA PREMIER PRO SP900 good ? Reliable ? it has the best read and write sppeds ive seen in this price range
http://www.ebuyer.com/525117-adata-premier-pro-2-5-asp900s3-128gm-c
550mb Read
520mb Write !!!
also i don't use the dvd drive and and i have usb 2.0 only i will probably break the hardrive by dropping it or summat

those READ and Write Numbers are sequential , it is not enough to look at these numbers , you should look at IOPS as well .. The best drive around that has both high Sequential Read/Write , and IOPS is the Samsung 840 pro , and be sure it is the Pro Version.

This 128G Adata is slow compared to samsung 840 pro

here is a comparison :

depends on the notebook , some are easy slot in , and some are really pain need to attach cable to the motherboard .. the more slim the notebook the harder to do it
