Hi,
I am looking for a decent 24-27 inch 1920*1080 pc monitor mostly for everyday use and gaming and I don't really know which monitor I should get. My price range is plus minus $300. Are acer, dell, and asus good brands for a monitor? Please feel free to pitch in your opinions which monitor I should get and if there is any other good brands on the market. If I want to buy a 2560*1440 monitor in the future, what would be the required minimum graphic card for this type of resolution that would make my monitor run smoothly when I play games?
Cheers

i have Asus PB238Q, its a 23" at 1920*1080 IPS monitor. Pretty impressive imo.
I have it with a 770 gtx, and i get about 90fps from battlefield 3 on max. So u could get away with the 760 or 750 depending on what games you play. (i wanted to future proof my system a little bit)

The back ups where the Dell monitors, seem about equal.

Here is a little comparison for GPUs frames per second vs resolution.

Dell Ultra sharp IPS monitors are good in general (the ones that start with (U)

this is avery good monitor for your budget at 1920x1200 better than 1920x1080

and it is IPS and good in gaming.

if you can pay 375 , I can show you the best monitor in the wrold for gaming and everything else

for 2560x1440 , if you want high setting , a dual 760GTX in SLI is needed Minimum ...

Would a 1920*1200 or 1920*1080 resolution looks awkward on a 27 inch monitor?
Can you tell the difference between a 1920*1200 and 1920*1080 since there is only 230400 pixels apart?
Also, what is a good monitor size for gaming, one that is not too big or too small?
For me, I think 24 inch is a good size for me, what do you guys think?
Cheers

more pixels are allways welcomed .. and those 120 are 10% more !!! it will give you more vertical space , both in games and in work and using the PC .. very nice .

i was very surprised how wide screen my monitor was when it came. (23" 16:9).
Did think at the time i wouldn't like it, but see no problem with it now. It works great with windows 7 snap fitting (when u drag a window to the side of the screen), looks also most normal. But then i guess it would as 16:9 is almost double wide as it is high, something i didn't think about when i was looking at it.

1920*1200 would just be more square. Though on a 27in screen i believe either resolution would be bad. I had 17" laptop with 1920*1080, i wouldn't have thought stretching those pixels over a screen 10in bigger would do the picture much good.
(though maybe if thats the native res of the screen its ok)
