Installing Corsair H60 AM3+

Am getting a H60 on Monday. From what I have read about this CLS, it that to be able to install it to an AMD Mobo you need to have the stock CPU fan bracket which I toss out for my cooler master hyper plus.
Am I gonna need one of these?

Yes you will need one of those. I have the H60 and you need that to fasten the screws onto.

Yes you will need to buy one if you no longer have the mount bracket that can with the motherboard

Thanks guys! Another thing, do I need to get the backplate too? I mean can I use the cooler master one??

Update: will this work with AM3+?

You do not need a backplate. Only if you had intel mobo/CPU.

as far as i now AMD AM2 and AM3 use the some bracket but i haven't had an AMD pc for sometime now so i would pick one that states it's for AM3 just to be safe.

This one states it's compatible with AM2/3 and they all looks pretty much the same.

Hyper 212 - 140w heat dissipation capacity
H60 - 90w heat dissipation capacity

The only level of all in one closed loop kit that will perform as good or a little better would be H110/100, Swiftech 220, Kraken X60

ok - fair enough. Just do not overclock on that - AT ALL. Your $30 Hyper will perform for OCing better

When it gets here, i'll test it out and if i don't like it i can sell it or return it. I'll probably pick up an H80i in a few weeks when i sell my other XFX HD 7870

You can overclock on it I have from stock to 4.2 on an AMD FX6300 which is currently running at 95w.

O I would love to see your stress test temps after a good solid hour run lol. Daily use prob be fine, surfing netn such at that oc. Loaded on stress level... *shrug* "can" and "good idea" are two very different things. Yiu are the first I have seen to say OC on a stock level cooler should be done. Grats for breaking away from mainstream. Although something works well for you, it very well may not for others, especially given loads of test data that back mainstream and negate your statement. Would lovw to see some test data actually if you do have it. Always up for seeing something new

The H60 is fine for a mild overclock. Yes the Hyper 212 may perform better but I chose the H60 because it is small, quiet and keeps MY CPU cool. :lol:

If he wants a massive thing in his PC then by all means get it!

That's why I want the H60, its smaller. If it can perform about the same as my huge cooler that it's a keeper until I get my H80i

Especially if you have a small case. I was also stuck between the Evo 212 or H60 for my new build but I chose the H60 (Knowing that the Evo 212) performed better.

I let you guys know the temps am getting as soon as the H60 gets here.
Currently my FX 6300 is at 4.5ghz with a Vcore of 1.45 and playing BF3 temps are in the mid 50's

Hey guys here is my results after getting the H60. Each test is about 5 minutes of P95 custom with 4GB of ram.

Hyper 212 plus
CPU Temps 62 degrees
Core temps 57 degrees

H60 Pull/Exhaust
CPU Temps 69 degrees
Core temps 60 degrees

H60 Push/Intake
CPU Temps 68 degrees
Core temps 57 degrees

H60 Push/Pull with a really low RPM fan pushing
CPU Temps 66 degrees
Core temps 56 degrees
