Looking at RAM for new build.

Hello everyone,

Im looking for some ram for a new build.
Its a gaming system mainly for MMORPGs running a GTX780 on dual 23inches monitors.
I also multitask, running VMs and streams, so I dont know if I should go 8 or 16GB.

I was thinking going with low CAS 1333 or 1600mhz.
Has to be low-profile or compatible with the Noctua NH-D14.

What are you wanting to do? Imagine this scenario.. You has just finished building your computer. You plug in your keyboard, mouse, connect your usb devices, plug in your Ethernet cable, then you plug in how many monitors and what kind? After you get Windows up and running you go on steam to buy and install which games? What other software might you run? Be as specific as possible.

As far as the RAM question goes... Well I don't know if you're running RAM intensive applications so I can't tell you how much RAM to get with any sort of accuracy. In most cases 8GB is enough but if you're running multiple virtual machines at the same time or something like that then 8GB might not cut it. You mentioned you're doing some multitasking. What kind? If it's the kind I just mentioned then you need at least 16GB of RAM.
