I have a wired optical mouse A4Tech SWOP-48 Big Thumb Mouse .

try pushing it to the left or right. some mouse wheels have that function for auto scroll. maybe it will reset. if not the wheel is mechanism is broken. replace mouse.

if there aren't any screws the only Alternative is to try and wedge a small flat screw driver between the halves.

I am assuming that you ended up buying a new mouse, or figured out how to fix yours...so for anyone else who finds this thread in search of a solution like I was, I have found that if you go into Start>Control Panel>System>Device Manager and expand 'Mice and other pointing devices', you should see your mouse listed there. Right click on it and uninstall it. After that is done, Unplug your mouse/wireless receiver for mouse for 30 seconds, then plug it back in and wait a minute until your computer recognizes the mouse again. Your scroll wheel should now work again.

NOTE: This solution is ONLY for a mouse that works in all other aspects, except the scroll wheel.
