Hi there,

This will be my first time and I almost bought a pre-built until I realized this would better serve me and get a sense of satisfaction.

I got some advice here and tweaked my first build components.

I would like to know if you think this is a solid build for a all around machine?

I wasn't sure what MB or GPU to purchase, and I'm wondering if the PSU is a good W for this build.

Thanks in advance for any comments and/or suggestions.

Solution
There's really not much there worth niggling; looks good.
You can get comparable performance (within 1C but quieter per Frostytech) and save a few dollars by switching the cooler to the Xigmatek Gaia.

The part in the brackets is another language to me lol, but thank you for the comment. After some research, it seemed this would be a solid build for all round machine with eventual light-medium gaming.

This is a barebones part list, just the stuff in the box. The selected PSU will leave you room for future SLI and expansion. If it will be over budget with the monitor and keyboard, then you can change the cooler to the Cooler Master Hyper 212, or take out the SSD.

I would have loved to add a SSD and the Caviar Black, but prices are not the same here north of the border and I wanted to be around 1200 after it's all said and done. Will I notice that much of a difference going from blue to black? I am considering going to a 760 on the GPU actually.

I would say yes. I have used both hard drives, and the black does feel very much faster (for an HDD, that is) than the blue. However, if you just want to use the hard drive as a media drive, than the extra speed and money would not be worth it.

You read mt mind on the GPU and the SSD. As mentioned, prices are a little higher here in the north so I tried to keep it close to 1200. I'll probably end up getting a SSD in a little while. As for the GPU, any brand suggestion?

Asus will run the quietest, EVGA has the best warranty, and Gigabyte has the highest clocks. Up to personal preference, really.

Ok then. Looks like that is out of the picture then. In the States, the prices on those coolers are almost exactly the opposite lol.

I guess my 30 dollar cooler won't cut it? I see many build using that cooler. Might be a noob question, but do I need something more than I've chosen, even if I do not plan to OC? Or is it a question of db and/or having it there should I need it?

The cooler master Hyper 212 is a fantastic little cooler. It is quieter than the stock cooler, and you have the ability to do some pretty good OC'ing with it.

I took your advice and switched a couple of components to keep it at same budget. My only question is: being a first build, will I find it more difficult to work with this PSU as opposed to the seasonic I had in my original build (seeing as its not modular)?

Done! Thank you.

That absolutely is not true. What i said was not misinformation. You could easily get a Haswell chip to 4.2GHz on the hyper 212. I have stated no misinformation.
