Ensure that the CPU power header is connected.

Sorry, I'm new at this and I forgot the 8-pin power connector for the cpu.

Don't apologise, mate. It's an easy mistake for a first-timer. You'll know better for next time :)

Enjoy.

It's on and the BIOS screen is up but there are a bunch of lines running horizontally across the screen. I also got one long beep and four short ones for a hardware component failure. It also said on my screen that there is a cpu fan error and the motherboard's boot device led came on.

Interesting...

Ensure that the CPU fan header is connected. I'm not sure about the boot device error - have you connected both the SATA power and data cables to the HDD? One goes from the motherboard into the HDD and the other goes from the PSU into the HDD.

Everything was connected but I plugged the cpu fan into a different header and there was only one beep and no red lights.

One beep designates a successful POST, so you should be fine now :)

I can't get to the BIOS now, the only thing on the screen is (Reboot and Select proper Boot device or Insert Boot Media in selected Boot device and press a key).

Installing Windows 7 should be the only thing left.
