Hello, I need to decide between the 3570k and the 4670k for my new gaming rig. I know that the 3570k is about $20 cheaper, but I was also wondering if the motherboard, cooler and PSU would become cheaper if I bought the 3570 instead of the 4670.
My graphics card is either gonna be Nvidia 770 2Gb or 760 2Gb. I want to play next gen games, especially Battlefield 4.

Thanks in advance.

pretty much the only difference is the socket type lets say in for years the lga1155 socket will be gone like me i bought the ivy bridge and the asrock z77extreme 4 but in around 4 years the lga 1150 socket will take the market so when your processor starts dieing out do you want to have to buy a new mobo ?

Hmm, seems true... How long can a mobo last? I know that I'll be (probably) going for an Asus Z87-A ATX mobo if I get the 4670k.

Pretty much. There's about a 10-15% performance increase(if that). But it runs hotter and doesn't overclock quite easily.

I bought the 4670k but really the only reason was because I got a pretty good deal on it and because...it's newer

Motherboards last quite a while, it's the capacitors that may wear out eventually but it takes a a while for that to happen

Dont opt for a haswell over ivy
Reasons
1. Only 5-10% marginal increase in haswell from ivy
2.haswell produces more heat than 6 core sandy bridge e processors so ivy cpu would b better overclocker
3.there is no news that the 1150 socket would support further generation processors

I hope thats what u would all need to know

Microcenter, costed my 200 for it, and got a suprise 30 bucks off my mobo(price tag 160 - receipt 130 :D ) but I had to go to the store and pick it up. They actually had the deal for the 3570k's but they had sold out by the time I placed my in-store pickup order.

That's nuts! although I do like my 4670k a lot, i think the better argument goes for getting the 3570k

and the other processors for the 1150:
Intel Core i5-4430
Intel Core i5-4570
Intel Core i5-4570S
Intel Core i5-4670
Intel Core i5-4670K
Intel Core i7-4770
Intel Core i7-4770k
Intel Core i7-4770S
