I suggest the following monitor setup: 6 CRT monitors at 800x600 each mounted behind a mirrored bezel to disguise the monitors' bezels themselves.

Any GT640 should be able to do that. And its WAY cheaper! Also, its gonna be a thing to behold... Imagine your room full of aged beige plastic and a huge piece of structure to hold everything in place... GO VGA CONNECTORS, GO!

Ok, the joke was a bit over the top but, i really don't see why you need such extreme crisp immagery. I'm perfectly fine with 1600x900

Depends on your rig, since your mainly not doing fps games I would opt for the higher resolution especially since it's a 30". Just remember it will mean everything gaming wise is more demanding on the GPU so if you can't afford at least a 7970 I would stick with the 1080 display. Good news is today AMD released the driver which fixed issues with crossfire so you can go with a multi GPU AMD setup if you wanted. Dual 7970's would be pretty sweet.

I have a dell u3011 which is a 30 inch 2560x1600 IPS panel. I would never go back to a standard 1080p panel again, ever. With that said, you had better invest in a very good graphics card to drive that thing, at least a 7970 (preferably two), or a GeForce GTX 780/Titan.

You can still play Crysis just not on super explosive awesome settings. The extra resolution and screen real estate is worth it in my opinion though.
