First off, I want to apologize for needing help with what is relatively stone age equipment.

I just got an XFX 5450 from Newegg (rebate!) to replace my failing BFG Tech 9400 (no, I'm not writing to you from 3 years ago).

The problem is, when I had it all plugged and properly pushed in with that happy "click", etc, the screen remains black when I turn on the computer.

I've tried different slots, different monitors and different outputs. I've made sure to get rid of my old nvidia drivers and disable it. But the darn thing still does not work.

My problem is that I cannot find too much info on this set up, so I'm not sure if the card is just dead or if these two things are not compatible. I do not have another computer to test the new card on.

I was hoping someone might have in their memory this issue, and know what to do.

I very much appreciate any help!

My setup:

Operating System
Windows Vista Home Premium 32-bit SP2
CPU
AMD Athlon 64 X2 6400+
Windsor 90nm Technology
RAM
2.00GB Dual-Channel DDR2 @ 401MHz (4-4-4-12)
Motherboard
Foxconn 590 SLI (Socket M2 )
Graphics
DCLCD DCL24A (1920x1200@60Hz)
1024MB NVIDIA GeForce 9400 GT (BFG Tech)
Hard Drives
233GB Seagate ST325041 0AS SCSI Disk Device (SATA)

Solution
Go into your bios and change your primary display adapter to pci-e. If that doesn't work its probably the card having compatibility issue's with your mobo.

Thank you for your response!

I just checked that out, and it is set to PCIE as the primary, but the card still does not work with it set as that.

There is also a "PCI slot" option to set to primary. Would that be something I should try or no?

Thanks again!
