Hello Tom's Gurus!

I am new to the enthusiast scene and getting ready to build my first computer. I've spent the last two weeks reading through forums like this one, the reviews on here, computershopper.com, manufacturer websites like Intel, NVIDIA, AMD, even random youtube videos in an attempt to educate myself. This stuff is interesting! I was hoping you guys would help me build a PC and check my understanding of a few things.

My employer is offering $1500 for tech hardware reimbursement this year. I am willing to add $500 of my own money (or a little more if it would make a huge difference). In addition to this my employer is offering me an additional $500 / year for the next 5 years after this one. In summary $2000 this year, $500 / year there after.

My goals are primarily gaming (world of warcraft / 1st person shooters on large scale environments), watching blue rays, home pc theater, and video editing (a fair bit). Theater Sound, graphics, and smooth game play on the highest settings are important to me.

I was thinking about basing my system around the following:

CPU: Intel i7-4770k (Found for $299.99)
Motherboard: Asus Maxiumus VI Hero LGA 1150 Intel z87 (Found for $209.99)
GPUs: NVIDIA GTX 760 x2 in SLI

What other components would you guys recommend in terms of sound card, cooling (water cooling looks fun but am somewhat hesitant to jump into it on my first build) case, system drive, storage drive, optical drive, RAM, and power supply?

I picked the 4770k based on the need to edit video and hopes that the LGA 1150 socket will let me reuse my motherboard in future years for newer CPUs. I am aware that cooling is an issue and that haswell doesn't overclock as well as some other chips.

Suggestions for my goals and $2k budget? I'm willing to alter the above if I'm totally crazy. Thanks in advance.

here you go, a big nice ssd for all your programs and perhaps a few of your favourite games, 2tb of storage for everything else, an i7-4770k, giving you great editing and gaming performance, with one of the best coolers on the market, 32 gigs of ram, easily enough even for editing, a motherboard that supports wifi, a blue ray reader, windoews 7 proffesional, a great psu, a nice well made, yet relatively cheap case to house this build and two gtx 760s to deliver great awesome graphics for your gaming, even enabling you to do mulit-monitor setups
