Hey guys, I'm thinking about buying another 2gb gtx 680 in the next couple of months to game on one 1080p 144hz monitor. I wanna get Planetside 2 over 60 fps, and other games over that as well.

I've heard some people say this is overkill on one 1080p monitor, but I'm trying to play games maxed graphically and above 60 fps.

With the "next-gen" in mind, does this sound like my best option?

I thought about getting one 780 instead because of the 3gb of VRAM, but two overclocked 680s destroy one 780 and I don't think (IMO) that 2gb of VRAM will hurt me on one monitor any time soon.

Any thoughts or discussion is greatly appreciated, thanks.

I have 2 680's in SLI pushing a 144hz Asus monitor. Games are smooth at max settings. The 2nd 680 will definitely let you utilize the extra hz over 60. The 2 GB of VRAM should be fine on one monitor. The way I rationalize it using 2 680's on a 120/144 hz monitor is equivalent to using 2 680's on 2 60hz monitors. But the added benefit of only having to push the resolution of 1HD monitor.
