Hey guys, I'm running a desktop:
Win 7
i7 Quad Core
8 GB Ram
1.5 TB HD
ATI Radeon 5750 HD
Some 600W PSU
(any other spec, please ask)

I'd like to find a new card that can play CoD or TF2 on Extra/High respectively.
I've noticed after awhile it begins to heat up to 173 degrees and the game starts lagging and sound starts crackling. I'd like to know if I'm working my card too hard, it's worn out, or something.

I'm also interested in getting a new graphics card anyways so I'm looking for a card that can support high quality gaming on a 1920x1080 screen and is compatible with my hardware. The budget is around 300-400 dollars (if I need to upgrade other parts to make the graphics card work, I can)

For that price range you could get a 7970 on sale or a GTX 770.

Or replace your "some 600w PSU" with a new PSU.

If all you plan to do is play CoD and TF2 There are some great deals on the 7870GHz. I have mine with an i5 running Crysis and FarCry 3 with good Frames on almost full ultra, anywhere from 38-55.

Depending on what your budget is I'd recommend the:
Radeon 7870
GTX 660
GTX 660 Ti

Those cards are currently the best bang for your buck and will run BO2, BF3, and TF2 at 1080p without breaking a sweat. It would also be useful to know the brand of your PSU as cheap PSU's can potentially fail and take the system with it when it dies.

So to be a bit more specific, I'd like a graphics card that I myself can visually see is better with graphics quality than my current 5750, while still keeping my solid good framerate and will last me at least 2 years.

So this card can run recently produced games at high quality, while maintaining a stable FPS.
Final questions: What will it take to use this, and what company do I go to to upgrade this? (looks like an Nvidia)
