I have a dell optiplex gx620

Some Specs:

Pentuim 4 3.00GHz
2GB of Ram (think its DDR2)
80GB of storage
Integrated VGA Graphics card

im thinking of getting the Geforce GT240,mainly because i want something cheap and to improve performance.Anything is better than what i currently have. I know i wont be able to play all the latest game on high settings but im perfectly fine with playing at low or medium settings.

More about : good gpu geforce gt240

The GT240 will be a good match for your hardware. If anything, it will probably be bottlenecked by your CPU. There is a DDR3 and DDR5 version of the GT240. The DDR5 version is faster, but in this case I don't think it would matter with the rest of your hardware being a bit older. You can also find 1 and 2 GB versions of the card. A 1 GB card would be just fine.

For what it's worth, I've got a Core 2 Quad with a GT240 1 GB DDR5, and I really liked it.

Does a 62bit card work with a 32 pci slot and is there any difference in a agp and pci card

Your system is too old (pre-PCI-E) to use a modern GPU.

I suggest you replace your motherboard/CPU or build a new system.

P4 sucks

I know :(  but im fine with not getting a modern GPU, I just want to play flash game and league of legends with lag and I dont mind putting the settings on low, do u know of any GPU like that. I think the radeon 3450(agp or pci) was a good choice

Your attachment didn't show up, so I can't tell what you're seeing. The Optiplex GX620 comes in 3 form factors. The largest form factor has a PCI Express slot. If yours doesn't, I wouldn't bother upgrading it.

Please check sticker on your PC.
GX620 has PCIE slot, but identically looking GX520 doesn't!

This is GX620 Mini Tower motherboard

And this is GX520 Mini Tower motherboard

You can see that PCIE slot is missing.

There are 3 form factors for your model, which one is yours?

So, please check model to be sure.

Looking more closely I thought I had a desktop but I actually had a SFF:(

Main question still stands, do you have GX620 or GX520?

OK, this is motherboard for Optiplex GX620 Small Form Factor

It has PCIE slot (second from left).

You said that you don't have, how it could be.

Go for a NEW MOTHER BOARD THAT SUPPORTS YOUR CURRENT PROCESSOR. tHE ONBOARD GRAPHICS MAY PROVIDE YOU BETTER PERFORMANCE THEN AGP CARDS. Plus, you'll get a pci 16x port. For e.g 945g and 965g express chipset motherboards. New mother boards for dual core processors are backwards compatible with pentium 4 processor. You'll spend a little more then on an agp card but you will get much more then what you get with an agp card.
For e.g. this motherboard will be awesome for your configuration:

Assuming it is LGA775. If it is an older Socket 478 then it is simply too old.

Also look for a G31/G41 chipset if you can. 9xx series is old

OP has to first figure out what PC model he has.

Next to everyone, OP has BTX case so all your offers are for nothing, his OS can be tied to motherboard.

So it would be easier to build from ground up.
