Ok guys got another one for those Liquid Cooling masters,

I plan on adding a custom Liquid Cooling loop to my next build. This is the first one i have ever made, and i plan on it being able to cool 2 780's (Maybe 3 if i have the balls) and a LGA 2011 i7 - 3930K. I have all the parts picked out EXCEPT one set... the fittings to connect the blocks. It will use standard G 1/4" fittings. I will be using XSPC parts, but i do have to ask, Compression... or barb? and who do you recommend i buy it from, i know a place or two i can buy them.

P.s. Where can i find a short fitting for SLI rigs to go from card to card

Barbs and Compression's do the same job just as well as each other, Compression's are just better looking for a few dollars more.
If you get your sizings right, Compressions wont be an issue. With barbs all you have to worry about is the ID, with the clamp on the OD. Compression's they have to match the tubing on both ID and OD.

Surprisingly, what you are looking for are called SLI fittings :p.

Ah, and here i though compression fittings would be better... then again this is something i should dig into more...

Hi

I use barbs with jubilee clips (worm drives/hose clips). I have used compression fittings but as a previous poster said they are wider due to the collar so sometimes don't fit as well. I've also had a tube work loose from a compression fitting but luckily I was testing outside the case at the time. I use proper branded Jubilee clips as hose clamps. The only leak I have ever had was with a cheap clamp which hadn't tightened evenly (ovalled). Proper clamps don't do that and use much less force to tighten. Compression fittings look better though if that matters to you and you can get angled fittings to deal with tight bends (although some add a lot of restriction). As regards prices a decent barb plus clip is about the same as a decent compression fitting in the UK. Both can be used indefinitely if you clean them and change the rubber O ring roughly once a year.

Hope this helps

Hey thanks guys! I'm glad i asked here, ill probably go with barbed fittings for the fact that they are cheaper and you don't need to be as paranoid on size.

@manofchalk Thanks for the help on the SLI fittings!

Sorry I forgot to answer the query about sli fittings. As the previous poster mentioned there are parts for sli bridges specifically. You need to watch two things. Normally they are made to bridge 1 slot, 2 slot and 3 slot gaps between the cards. Make sure you get the right gap. Secondly if you connect in series you only need one bridge. If you connect in parallel you need two. Parallel halves the flow to the blocks but only counts as a single block for restriction. I've used parallel in the past but only to make my tube routing easier.

Hope this helps
