Hello, I have been having an issue with Win8 since I got it.

I used it to build my new gaming system. Everything works fine, except for my Wi-Fi drops out intermittently.

This problem is highly annoying because I can't play my games online.

It does connect and allow me to surf the web, but I get disconnect notices from Google Chrome often.

Also, sort of interesting, but worth noting, when I first got Win8 it wasn't working, but mysteriously started working normally one day.
It would go out occasionally, maybe once a month that I noticed, but I attributed it to interference. I recently added the SSD to my system,
and now it doesn't work. I did try re-installing it to the HDD again, but it wouldn't work correctly there either. I used the same drivers each time.

I know it to be an issue with Win8, because I have tried a couple Wi-Fi dongles, and they do the exact same thing.

They work fine in Win7 on the same computer.

My router is not at fault, I have other computer connected to the same network via Wi-Fi with no problems.

My other computers are Win7 or WinXP.

I understand this is a common problem. I have read probably 25 or more posts of people with different computer models
with the same problem. I'm hoping Win 8.1 will fix this?

I would like some actual help other than the usual troubleshooting guide the Windows Experts always post, as I have tried these multiple times.

System Specs:

Win8 Pro x64 bit w/ all updates to date
ASUS M5A97 motherboard
AMD FX-8350
8gb 1866mhz RipjawsX DDR3 RAM
ASUS Radeon HD 7850 2gb GDDR5
1TB Seagate 7200RPM HDD -data
128GB Transcend SSD -boot

Wi-Fi dongles I'v used:

Netgear WNA1100
Edup ED-299

Any help is greatly appreciated!

I had seen many people telling me to do this under "Power Settings" in control panel.

I had not found any setting so figured it didn't apply to my dongle/s.

Thanks for clarifying that the setting is under Device Manager. Had I known before I wouldn't have even had the problem.
