So i got my New sabertooth in today, ( 990fx gen3 r2.0) the newest generation / revisions, along with an fx8350cpu and 850w psu.. and i get it all together and it wont boot.

the hdd LED stays red indicating an issue with the boot device(s). so i try everything from swapping out sata cables, power cables, sata slots that i plug them in to, cmos wipe, dram removal and slot switch, video card removal, etc etc etc. ive done everything possible and ive had it out twice now today to make sure all the risers on my haf-x case were tight in the event that there was a bad ground, and still no boot.

so after swaping cables, checking connections multiple times, i take it out a third time and put in my old asus mobo and hook everything back up and it works perfect. (same harddrives, only thing different that i didnt have in the old board was the cput as its not an am3+ board/phenom2 6 core in that one).

so im kind of at a loss, at this point i have a case number with asus and im probably going to go for a new motherboard/rma/etc cuz ive tried just about everything...

the wierd part about it is that i can hear my hdd spin up and the light for my ssd comes on so there is power there, and they are working but the mobo isnt detecting them for some odd reason.. or something.. im pretty savvy when it comes to gaming pc's and troubleshooting but this ones got me stumped..im assuming at this point its just a DOA board.

anyone got any ideas? cuz ive seen loads of threads having the same no post issue but none that ive seen have my exact issue with the hdd light; as in all my hardware is working correctly via testing on old motherboard vs not working and causing the issue as is the case in all the other threads..

anyone got anything they can think of?>

hell.. would not having the hdmi plugged in cause this issue? im wondering cuz i never power new systems up with a monitor until i know that it wont shut itself down automatically cuz of fail to boot / POST failure..

i could hardly think that that could cause the problem considering the only light on on the motherboard is the green one and the red hdd LED.. if it was a "not having hdmi plugged in to the video card" issue, the red gpu led would come on indicating an issue with that system..

so yeah, im lost at this point....

no beeps, just the red boot device led.. led comes on after 10-15 seconds of powering up pc, then 15-20 seconds later it shuts itself down. everything is connected properly. its not a power supply issue as im using my new power supply right now as i type this on my old asus mobo.,

the cpu, gpu, and dram led's flash on startup as part of the POST and check out fine because they dont stay on for more then a split second. the only one that stays on is the hdd led / boot device led.. as as i stated, not a hardrive issue as both my hdd and ssd are connected to the pc im typing this on right now.

i know this may sound dumb, but im running the same setup and mine did the same thing with the hdd light. press the mem ok button in the top right corner of the board. and if it solves it booting up dont mess with memory in the bios later it will crash it, the dram you are using may be compatible with the board but might not like the speed its trying to start with.

I am having a similar problem.
My setup.
Motherboard: Sabertooth 990fx r2.0.
CPU: FX-8350.
GPU: EVGA GTX 660 ti.
Ram: 16GB (8x2) Gskill Ripjaws.
SSD: Kingston HyperX 3K 120GB
HDD: Seagate 2TB.
Optical: DVD rom (cant remember the make)
PSU: Corsair RM650

I tryed a lot of things including only hooking up one storage device at a time. according to the board lights. the CPU is ok and the Ram is ok. I even tried the Mem Ok button fix. The Dram LED flashed three times and then a single beep sounded. I'm guessing that means the ram is good. the light is no longer on. but still I'm having issues with the storage device light being on. But according to the information I looked up. the light will be on even though the drive is good because it has no OS on it. which I agree is true. I just bought both drives. So it comes to installing an OS. well the problem I am still having is though the post sequence. I get to The Ultimate Force splash screen where the BIOS prompts are listed. If i press a key there is no response. The screen hangs. If i press escape or tab sometimes i get a completely black screen. I am assuming this is supposed to be the start of the boot disc/USB function. Nothing happens. I haven't tried updating the BIOS yet, but considering newer versions of this motherboard are having the same problem. I don't think its going to help. Maybe the board is DOA? seems the BIOS is bricked I cant even access it. I hope someone figures this out. I'm still scratching my head on this one. Of course, it has been like 12 years since I last built a computer myself.

Reinstall your CPU I guarentee your pc will boot.

Had the same problem...pc wouldn't boot/post nothing! I popped out the cpu and carefully reinstalled and BAM I was back up.

Got nothing to lose but time, right? What kind of cooler do you have installed?
