So i got my New sabertooth in today, ( 990fx gen3 r2.0) the newest generation / revisions, along with an fx8350cpu and 850w psu.. and i get it all together and it wont boot.
the hdd LED stays red indicating an issue with the boot device(s). so i try everything from swapping out sata cables, power cables, sata slots that i plug them in to, cmos wipe, dram removal and slot switch, video card removal, etc etc etc. ive done everything possible and ive had it out twice now today to make sure all the risers on my haf-x case were tight in the event that there was a bad ground, and still no boot.
so after swaping cables, checking connections multiple times, i take it out a third time and put in my old asus mobo and hook everything back up and it works perfect. (same harddrives, only thing different that i didnt have in the old board was the cput as its not an am3+ board/phenom2 6 core in that one).
so im kind of at a loss, at this point i have a case number with asus and im probably going to go for a new motherboard/rma/etc cuz ive tried just about everything...
the wierd part about it is that i can hear my hdd spin up and the light for my ssd comes on so there is power there, and they are working but the mobo isnt detecting them for some odd reason.. or something.. im pretty savvy when it comes to gaming pc's and troubleshooting but this ones got me stumped..im assuming at this point its just a DOA board.
anyone got any ideas? cuz ive seen loads of threads having the same no post issue but none that ive seen have my exact issue with the hdd light; as in all my hardware is working correctly via testing on old motherboard vs not working and causing the issue as is the case in all the other threads..
anyone got anything they can think of?>
hell.. would not having the hdmi plugged in cause this issue? im wondering cuz i never power new systems up with a monitor until i know that it wont shut itself down automatically cuz of fail to boot / POST failure..
i could hardly think that that could cause the problem considering the only light on on the motherboard is the green one and the red hdd LED.. if it was a "not having hdmi plugged in to the video card" issue, the red gpu led would come on indicating an issue with that system..
so yeah, im lost at this point....
