I have a Seagate 500 GB SATA HDD. It's 25% free. I have many Games, Movies, Softwares and Project Documents totaling upto 250-300 GB. I don't want to lose them.

So I thought to Backup them on a External Portable HDD.

How much GB of HDD should I buy and which HDD is best for me. My main priority is Backup.

My budget is $50 ( INR 3000 ) but I can increase upto $67 ( INR 4000 ) .

More about : external hdd

If you only want to backup your internal drive, Sir, than you should buy a 500 GB external drive. Also, buy an USB 3.0 one, even If your motherborad supports only USB 2.0. The price difference is negligible.

Thanks..... Your advice will be helpful to me
Can you suggest me some brands and their drive models

I have these drives and I didn't have any problem with them. They are, also, shock and drop resistant.

500GB and 1TB:

So I can recommend this purple 500GB one from the second link, Sir.

Is transcend a trusted brand? I thought of Seagate, Werstern Digital, Adata which are top brands in External harddisks, so they might be better than transcend. Is my thought right?

Transcend is a good brand, Sir, but it is not OEM (original equipment manufacturer) of the hard drives. So, the 320GB one, even though it is Transcend, has Samsung HDD inside. Samsung HDDs are more reilable than WD and Seagate, so that is a good thing. I am not able to find out the brands of the HDDs inside 500GB and 1TB models, unfortunately.

The transcend's purple one is currently out of stock on the online stores. Is there any alternative ?
