Picture difference between ps3 and laptop

So I have a laptop with intel hd graphics (connected to a plasma via hdmi )and when comparing it with the ps3 with the same scene ,the shadow detail is much more better in the ps3 . In the laptop,Dark scene is too dark and I can't make out details . Would getting a good PC solves this problem ?

Intel HD graphics generally aren't something people use for gaming. If you were to have a PC with a good graphics card you would get better lighting effects and better detail, much better than the ps3.

Thanks for the answer ! I'm generally using the laptop to watch videos because it's too weak to do proper gaming .. i guess it's really is ti,e to switch to a PC huh .. I spent a lot of time calibrating the tv with the laptop and I still can't make out the black scenes ..
