I currently have a Phenom in my computer, but it seems to be a large bottleneck for my GTX 660. Games like WoT can't even run at 60 FPS on average. I plan to upgrade soon. I'm looking at the FX 6350, but I'm wondering if it's a substantial performance improvement over the Phenom I currently have.

Solution
It performs as good as the H60. I got the H60 because It was small, quiet and didn't look like a tower in my PC. If you can get the H80i get that. if you can fit a H100i get that.

it is a better cpu for sure. your overall performance will be boosted too. but does it worth? i dont think so... phenomx4 965be is a good cpu too. if you want to upgrade you gotta choose something better. otherwise it wont provide enough boost to be honest. you can overclock 965 be to improve the performance instead spending 100-120$ for 6350

If you can get the 8350 then get that, that is futureproof and is the ONLY FX chip up there that beats some of intels CPU's. It will give a performance boost when overclocked, but beware it runs at 125w so make sure your PSU is suffice for the job.

What you should be doing is overclocking that 965 to 4Ghz

I doubt there is much of a bottleneck even without an OC. 660 Non ti is not super powerful card. An overclock to even to 3.6Ghz would be optimal, frankly i'm not sure there is a bottleneck even at stock speeds with the P2 965.

Are you having some kind of issues while playing games?

Yes, as I stated in an earlier response, CPU-intensive games like WoT can't even play at an average of 60 FPS. I know the 660 isn't a super powerful card, but it's powerful enough to get more than that on a game with only meh graphics. Keep in mind that this is NOT on max settings either. Minecraft as well. Sometimes I'll get 100+ FPS, but others I'll get 40 or lower. Minecraft is definitely not something I'd expect a 660 to struggle at. I should mention that I play Crysis 3 with little to no issue on max settings (without AA). I think it's safe to say that the Phenom is a bottleneck for my 660.

To be honest, I was going to get one of Corsair's water cooled fans. The H50 I believe it's called? I'll have to try OCing beforeI make my final decision, but I need to mention one more thing; the few uncommon lag spikes in Crysis 3 that I encounter are when the CPU redlines. I've noted this by using a CPU monitor while playing. All four cores max out when I get sudden lag spikes.

I already knew this, but I'd like to get 40 FPS average at the very least while playing it. It isn't uncommon for me to get 20 FPS.
