6x1gb total memory,4 usable(2 h/w reserved). mobo sees 4gb, win7 see 6.

Hello, i have a problem with my memory as described on the header, my system specs are the following:

Gigabyte x58 ud4 (latest BIOS)
i7 920
6x1gb DDR3 1800mhz OCZ gold (memtested for 500%)
Gigabyte GTX660 2gb OC

Windows 7 x64bit Ultimate

i am running out of options, i cannot find anything else to tweak in BIOS that will affect it.

  1. Stole this from an older thread:

    Run MSCONFIG

Check to see if selective start is selected.

If yes, go to the boot tab.

    Click "Advanced Options".

Deselect the maximum memory option if it is selected.

Also, you can optionally select the number of processors to increase the boot speed.

Click on apply to apply the new settings.

Reboot the computer. Once the computer is rebooted, right click on "Computer" on your desktop and select properties. Installed memory should now show just the memory installed rather than the 2 components (installed and usable).

    Hope that helps
