the 660 is generally cheaper and trades blows depending on game with the 7870, the 7870 is slightly faster overall. The 660 uses less power and has Physx. Either card is pretty good for 1080p gaming. weigh up the pro's and cons, game bundles etc and decide which is better for you.

The GTX 760 should come with a free copy of Splinter Cell Blacklist. Really, both cards are at effectively the same level of performance. Choose based on the price and value (free games), and then decide if you want to play any PhysX games because you can't do that with the 7870.

You 'can' do PhysX on the CPU, but it will kill your performance. Essentially, in effect, you really must have an Nvidia card to run GPU accelerated PhysX.

You mention pro and cons.... what are the pros of the 7870 over the GTX 660?

better performance, free games (if the promotion is still there) better overclocking well i think that was it
and do I feel any difference with PhysX on?

There is no performance difference and the free game bundle for the 7870 has ended.

There are many YouTube videos available that show the difference of gaming with PhysX ON versus OFF.

Even a highly overclocked Powercolor 7870 Devil is only 7% over a stock GTX 660. Overclock the GTX 660 or just get one of the many custom factory overclocked models, and again, the performance difference is negligible.

Well, if it were me, I would choose a really nice custom factory overclocked GTX 660, like the MSI Twin Frozr, Gigabyte Windforce, Asus DirectCU, or EVGA FTW+ Signature 2. And I would make that choice over the 7870 for these reasons:

1) Performance is the same. I discount the overclocking argument because I think the GTX 660 also overclocks very well, and the difference between the two when overclocked is still not going to be significant or noticeable when gaming.
2) The GTX 660 is cheaper.
3) The GTX 660 comes with a free game that looks like its going to be awesome.
4) The GTX 660 comes with good driver support, better SLI options, better 3D Vision, and offers some nifty technologies that the 7870 can't match, including: PhysX, Adaptive VSync, FXAA, TXAA, Geforce Experience, Shadowplay, etc.

But that's just me, and I'm not the one spending good cash on this.

You mean 660 right? 760 destroys 7870. 660 and 760 both come with Splinter Cell I think.

7870 is also a monster overclocker, all versions of the card (Ghz and XT/LE) will generally overclock by around 200-250 Mhz on the core regularly.
