Harddiks dont have USB support :)

what they do is making a Bridge chip inside the external box , from USB3 to SATA 3 ...

If you want the best and fastest , make your own .. buy a BOX with Internal Sata3 and external USB3 , and choose the fastest 2.5 1TB Harddisk , that is , has 32MB cache and 7200 RPM , and do it your self.

Others Just put a slow 5400 rpm harddisks to save cost if you buy it ready..

Here is an Example ,

1- you by a SATA3 USB3 case like this :

ThermalTake Muse 5G 2.5” USB3.0 External Hard Drive Enclosure

http://www.thermaltake.com/products-model.aspx?id=C_00001904

http://www.tigerdirect.com/applications/searchtools/item-details.asp?EdpNo=7847637&SRCCODE=GOOGLEBASE&cm_mmc_o=VRqCjC7BBTkwCjCECjCE

2- you pick the fastest 2.5 1TB harddisk like this :

HGST Travelstar 7K1000 1TB, SATA 6Gb/s , 32MB cache , 7200 RPM

http://www.hgst.com/hard-drives/mobile-drives/9.5mm-mobile-hard-drives/travelstar-7k1000

http://www.neobits.com/hitachi_0j22423_2_5in_9_5mm_1000gb_7200rpm_sata_rv_p5749470.html?atc=gbs

and you will have the fastest External Harddisk.

Why are you recommending a huge drive that needs external power ? for 1 TB he just need 2.5 that fits in the pocket with no need for power Adapter
