Installing Windows 8, keeping Windows 7 license?

Hello All,

Quick noob question:

I got a really good deal on 2 copies of Windows 8 Pro (full version, no upgrade). What I'm wanting to do is install W8 on 2 HTPCs that are currently running W7 but keep the W7 licences to use on other PCs. Will I have to wipe the hard drives before? Am I overthinking this? Help please!

Thanks in advance!

Over thinking. If they are full versions and not upgrades then when you wipe the drive to install it, the win7 license rights are also removed from that PC. You are then allowed (assuming the win7 copies are full versions as well.) to install the old win7 on whatever machine you want. If MS objects, you can correctly say that it is installed on only one machine.
