I bought GTA 4 a few weeks ago,in the last 8-9 days whenever i boot the game up and hit play it crashes,Windows message pops up saying,GTA4 has stopped responding, close the program

It is impossible to play,i have no mods installed,my rig is less than 3 weeks old,I have deleted and reinstalled twice & i just dont know what could be the cause.

Solution
Did you buy through STEAM?
If so, then use the VERIFY feature (Detailed Mode->Right-Click GTA4->Properties->Local Files-> "Verify Integrity of Game Cache"

If NOT through Steam, then confirm:
1) Game is updated to latest
2) your VIDEO drivers are latest
3) Motherboard Drivers (mainly MAIN CHIPSET) were installed (reinstall if unsure)

(I gave up trying to play GTA4. It runs poorly even on my GTX680/i7-3770K/16GB system. It's got port issues but shouldn't be crashing).

*If none of this helps, try Googling "GTA 4 crashing"; I just don't have more time.

Intel core i5 3470 @ 3.2Ghz
8Gb Corsair Vengeance RAM
VTX3D Radeon HD 2GB 7870 Black Edition

Just ran Chkdsk and a black box popped up,ran some tests it looked like and closed itself
