Hi,

I want to buy a new PC for gaming not very expensive and without getting the latest parts, but quite a good one, so I could enjoy new games. The problem lies in the motherboard, I can't decide which one to take. I've several options and would like to receive an advice from professionals. Right now I decided to take following parts:

CPU: i5-4570 3.2GHz
VGA: GeForce GTX 770
HDD: 1TB SATA3 32Mb cache
SSD: 120Gb SATA3 SDNow 300 Kingston
I want to play games with 1920 x 1080 resolution

Motherboards: Asus Maximus VI Hero or Asus Gryphon Z87 or Gigabyte Intel Socket 1150 B85 (Guy at the internet shop suggested it. The PC I choose had this M/B Intel B75-P45 Express chipset 1155 socket, but he told me that they'll change it to the brand new B85 for the same price, I hope I understood him correctly). The thing is that the price with that Intel B85 is quite affordable for me, but I don't want to save couple of dollars and change it after 1-2 years.

First of all, is it a good PC for gaming, so that there won't be need to change it in about 5 years? And which motherboard is better in performance and price\performance ratio? Or there is a better one with similar price and performance?

I'm not very good in technical part, so all my decisions were based on my budget and reviews, benchmarks, etc.

I have recently done the same thing as you are looking to do. I bought the i5-4430 though, but wish I spent the small extra and went for the 4570! I went for the Asus B85 mATX motherboard - its really good and has all the functionality I needed. If you are not overclocking (which you probably won't be since you haven't gone for a K processor), and you aren't looking to SLI/CrossFire then B85 is perfect for you!

GTX770 is a beast of a card. Performance will be excellent!! Make sure your PSU can handle it though :) If you are looking for a good PSU, go with manufacturers like Corsair, Seasonic or FSP.

Regarding the SSD - I'm personally not too keen on Kingston. Have a look at the Intel 330/520, and the Samsung 840 series.

Good luck!

The Asus Hero has very good sound onboard. it is not only about the chipset ... go for it.

and pick 64MB SATA 3 7200 rpm Harddisks Only , dont go lower they are same price ..

If you tell me where you buy from and your budget I will help you more .

I am planing on upgrading to a 4590 and still deciding on the B85 boards from Asus, ASRock and MSI but personally for SSD's Kingston makes some pretty good one's which i am using a 60gb model from them for my OS and other small things but for my games i use a 1TB SSHD and i have no complaints on their SSD's just maybe you had a problem with their SSD's but of course with all companies there will always be 2 defects out of 10.
