Browser starts when computer wakes up

Last response: in Windows 8

When my Windows 8 computer wakes up from sleep, my Firefox Browser opens up and seems to be searching for a website. No website comes up. Nothing is in the address bar. I've run every error correction program I have and the problem still persists.

It's not a great big deal - I just close the browser and go on. But I wonder why it's opening up, and why it's not finding whatever its looking for.

Any thoughts?

Try UNINSTALLING Firefox and installing it again.

If you want to keep your Bookmarks you can:
1. Click "Firefox"-> "bookmarks" -> "Show all bookmarks"-> EXPORT
2. Uninstall Firefox (add/remove)
3. Install Firefox
4. IMPORT backups.

*When uninstalling Firefox I believe it asks about keeping your SETTINGS. Say "NO" as there may be a glitch there causing your problem. I had a different problem that required this approach.

No, that's not the solution - I tried uninstalling and re-installing Firefox every which way. I did notice, however, that when the browser timed out, it was looking for a particular website: http://192.168.33/login.asp?

That makes no sense to me whatsoever. Anyone any clues why, when my computer wakes up, the browser automatically opens and tries to go to the above site?

Have a look at the list of programs that run when windows starts. From a run box type 'msconfig' and select the Startup Tab. You can uncheck the applications you wish to stop from loading with windows
