Hi guys,

I'm looking for a quiet and efficient 550-650W PSU because the one that I have right now (CM eXtreme Power Plus 550W) is super loud during gaming loads and is also not very efficient (it says on the box it is "typically" 70%). I'm currently looking at the Corsair TX650, SeaSonic G Series 550W, Corsair CX600, and Rosewill Capstone 550. If anyone could recommend me one of these, or perhaps any other better ones fitting within the price range, that would be great.

Thanks!

Seasonic G series, they're great for the price. The capstones work just as well but they cost more if you want to go modular. If you want one to be really silent, the fan on the Seasonic X series turns off when it's not needed. It'll cost you more though.
Or the XFX ones, I have the 750w and its pretty much silent.

Would having a higher wattage PSU compared to my usual load quiet down the PC? Since it's not having to strain in regards to power as much

I'd take the Seasonic "G" first, and a [modular] Capstone second (but note that Seasonic builds the XFX units). Your CM PSU is a low-quality unit. Although not their worst, it will burn if you try to pull its full rated load (per HardwareSecrets review).

Is modular really that better? I guess it would be great for cord management but I don't see all that many benefits than from getting a non-modular PSU.
