Hi!

Can someone come up with a desktop build suggestion that would be better (easy!) but not more expensive (challenge!), than this laptop:

**ASUS R500N, AMD A8-4500 quad-core, 750G hard drive, 8G RAM, integrated AMD Radeon HD7640G with no dedicated VRAM, 470$**

needs to ship to Canada, run Photoshop CS6. No gaming.

total price to beat is 550$ (excluding screen), start from scratch

thanks!

I also thought that CS6 would not need a good GPU, but in researching various forums i was forced to conclude that it at least needs a "decent" GPU. Better yet if you can have dedicated VRAM. It can be compensated somewhat by having a good CPU with quad-core and lots of RAM.

Checking your built with Canadian shipping looks to be a little over 500$, which is not bad at all. I have to add the 100$ at least for Windows, which makes it 600$. So I'd end-up paying significantly more than a laptop, go through the hassle and "risk" of building a desktop and losing the convenience of a laptop... so i guess a laptop is pretty much my best option so far.

thanks for the input :)

that's actually an interesting price, given that it includes Windows. Would it outperform the Asus i propose a lot? How would the difference feel in my use?
